Can i just make this clear, that despite the way the radio has angled it, that not all of us fans feel short changed by the lack of "investment" this season, i and others can see that we cant expect to be carried financially forever especially with the general downturn in football at the moment.

can any who agree please sign this thread, those who dont agree dont post on this thread, it is not for discussion please discuss whether you agree on a separate thread thanks.

Cannot agree more. Have to remember that today Wolves had no less than 5 who came up from our youths sector - Murray, Little, Jones, Gobern, Ikeme.

Had Mulgrew who came in just as a small part of Naylor's transfer, Henry who was signed for peanuts, Potter and Davis who are on a season's loan, Breen, Johnson and Bothroyd signed for free, only players who were bought for something big were Craddock and Olifinjana, Richetts and Edwards.

They were playing a team who was in the premiership and who retained a good number of the last season's players.

Surely we are doing much better than the days when Wolves were spending and spending. Even if you see the statistics of the match, Wolves had more possession, more corners, a good number of shots on and off target. Remember last year when the statistics would show 1 or 2 shots on goal.

The Board has my vote on the way things are being run.

Agreed. Considering the path we now have to tread, we are making a decent fist of it thanks to McCarthy's purchases and team spirit.

However, the board still need to back McCarthy's purchasing decisions and make sure they make every last penny we can afford to aid the cause.

I hope they also take note of the amount of tickets sold for the Sunderland £10-per-ticket match, especially since it is on a Friday night AND on SkyTV.

I agree with everyone here. Wolves view over the years has been short sighted and a quick fix mentality. We must build for the future and that started this season. Yes, most of our players are young and inexperienced, some won't make the grade, but it's a start. Everything built has a foundation; this is ours!

We need to get behind them each week and not slag individuals off otherwise there confidence will be shattered.

Signed. But I would occasionally like Academy players/frees/loannees supplemented by promising young players from other clubs and that might cost a bob or two in some cases. More experienced players on frees/or very small fees or loans. Just build up a really strong core of young players like Arsenal have (but obviously at our level). Sustain this policy over the next decade or more whoever is manager in the future. Eventually it will pay rich dividends. This season will occasionally be painful but things will gradually get better and better if we continue to concentrate on developing and finding young talented players. Do everything humanly possible to keep Matt Murray - offer him a fantastic contract and show him the club have some ambition and a real strategy for future success and he will stay.

Agreed, but hopefully we'll be doing this. Kightly this week is an example of us taking a punt on a promising youngster, with a view to buying him. You just know that the Wolves of old would not have signed him.

Paul Franks is a moron who's done nothing but snipe at the club since Dave Jones got sacked. Shame, as he used to be a reasonable guy. I'm glad he was made to look like a fool yesterday.

Mark Little or Oleg Luzhny at right back? Matt Murray or Paul Jones? Jemal Johnson or Tomasz Frankowski? Daniel Jones or Seol Ki-Hyeon? Lewis Gobern or Tony Daley? Karl Henry or Darren Anderton?

We're going the right way about things now, whether that's by accident or design. Long may it continue.

20-11-2006, 16:18
Fully agree. We must give the approach a chance, and this means the patience, support and unity of the fans. The only way for long term success on the field is to build a plan for long term stability off it - and that is what is happening. If we stay in the division this year I will be happy. That was my expectation when Mick joined, and I will not raise that because we have had a good start to the season. Things are looking good for the long term future of the club.

Ogerp keeps on giving your argument extra points. Its not fair!

I have made my view clear. I too am pleased to see the youth prosper but wud also like to see MM given a little bit more support.

The E & S reports that SJH is prepared to dig deep again in the january transfer window (I think £1m has been suggested altho obviously it makes sense not to state exactly how much). No wonder fans get confused about what money is self-generated (being able to stand on our own too feet) and what is being given kindly by SJH. On this occasion why is it being perceived that SJH is digging deep when we have some of the £6m transfer budget still available?

Its a key point to remember when we discuss finances. Everyone else accuses us of having a sugar daddy still but we have NOT had that for several years (not to take away the immense input Sir Jack has previously provided).
