A more negative formation but some positive changes. Seems like Mick was as disappointed with the Hull performance as we were.

It really is dreadful, we dont want experiance players like Hendrie from Villa on loan so sign, non league kids who dont even make the bench, we are going to get horsed today.

McCarthy nice bloke, talks a good game, crap coach, tactically lacking. We could go down the division is so tight.

Thats what you call a shake up. Little, Gobern & Jones all starting.

MM has been forced to make changes, we have got noithing out of our last 5 away games so he must try something different. If we can walk away from St Andrews with a point you would take it now..

I can see Gobern and Jones playing as very attacking wide players. Bothroyd is the best at holding the ball up so you got to respect MM's judgement..

Give the bloke a chance... he only had his first training session yesterday! Or has your sarcasm gone straight over my head?

Seems a strange team selection for this game. Not one I'd have thought to bring in a number of players who haven't played much. Against a poorer team than Brum I could understand it. If Bothroyd is our only striker I think we're in trouble. Never mind, as soon as we go behind to an early goal we'll have to bring another striker on. Hope it works but maybe the plan is just to keep the score down!

I thought he had been training with the squad all week, prior to signing. My point is that McCarthy is filling the squad with players who maybe one for the future (Craig Davies - useless, Jemal J - potential/inconsistant Mulgrew Finkler, Collins, Wheater sent back no better than what we have) we need players for the present who can add quality.

I'm disappointed that it's quite such a defensive line-up, but presumably Big Mick is getting desperate for even one away point.

It doesn't look like a team capable of getting three points, but then he hasn't got a fit attacking midfielder or a goalscoring striker ( fit or unfit ) in his squad to choose from. I suspect BM knows that and probably points it out to the Mox at regular intervals!

Never mind, miracles sometimes happen, maybe it's our turn for one today!

Not his fault, he is bringing in the best we can afford imo.

Playing it safe i can only assume...
Keep it tight for h/time and hope a counter attack on speedy players...
Give MM credit for the change

Interesting selection. Nice to see Little getting a start and Clapham dropped. The midfield looks good, but whether they will get forward to support Bothroyd when we have the ball will be the deciding factor.

Also, very disappointing not to see Johnson AGAIN. (Any news on Subs??)

I'm guessing it will look like this:

----------------------Murray-----------------------

Little-------Craddock----------Breen---------Mulgrew

----------------------Henry------------------------

Gobern-------Potter----------Olofinjana--------Jones

--------------------Bothroyd-----------------------

Unless Mick tells Seyi to get forward behind Bothroyd.

The pace of Jones and Gobern is there for quick counter attacking. Little is lightenin quick as well. Bothroyd is a strong player so he'll be able to handle himself up front on his own. He will need support from Olofinjana though.

If we scraped a point I'd be happy.

Dont see it Derby are in Financial meltdown but bring in players from Arsenal/Man U we get loan signings from the Nationwide and sunderland reserves.

Are you on drugs, we have conceded 13 away from home and only scored 3. We are all doomed I tell you.

Where the hell is Ricketts!! He's been our best player on the left. I know Jones was a defender and probably will help Mulgrew out but Ricketts has been our only decent attacking force in midfield.

Sorry, I meant the best he is allowed to pay for. If the board will only let him spend say £3k a week on loans, it doesn't leave him a lot of scope.
Don't forget MM said he could have had Aliadiare but would have been allowed no other signings.

It's the Moxey plan for running a successful football club. If it works he will be rightly famous. If it doesn't.............we'll be about as big a club as Walsall ( but with a better stadium obviously! ).

The Bear

Aliadiere would have commanded a decent fee (500k+ minimum) as well as decent wages so that is a pretty expensive buy for this league, and understandable that it would use up our transfer resources. Correct decision from Mick.

I think iirc, he was refering to another loan, not a signing

MM's team selection beggars belief, what planet is he on.
Rickets our best player, Clarke our leading goal scorere dropped.

I am losing confidence

Not unknown for a loan fee to be involved, even if no permanent signing - a la Camara

Not at all. It just shows he was given very little to play with, so to lay the blame for the lack of quality of our squad at micks door is harsh imo
