Anyone know there club history???

Just wondering where our rivalry with Albion started & if we are the oldest league derby in World football?? Wolves and Albion were both part of the 12 founder members of the English league in 1888. Blackburn & Burnley were also founder members and I think there's is also a derby? I know that the Nottingham clubs were both established in the 1860's, however Forest wasn't one of the founder members.

Preston NE
Aston Villa
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Blackburn Rovers
Bolton Wanderers
West Bromwich Albion
Accrington
Everton
Burnley
Derby County
Notts County
Stoke

Looks like it all depends who played first in 1888. Wolves v sh** or Burnblack v the original dingles.

That link says that Portsmouth v Newcastle 22nd Feb 1956 was the first floodlit game, but I thought when we played those friendlies in '53 that was the first?

Maybe it means league game.

What about Preston v Blackburn? Does that count? I know it's not seen in the same light as Blackburn/Burnley or Wolves/Albion these days, but it must've been a big game back then (didn't Preston win the league that year?).

our first ever league game was v the Villa, 1-1 with the Villa fullback getting both so that is an older derby than v the $$$$.

The actual oldest derby game in the world (non football league) is between Sheffield FC and Hallam FC.

Three fixtures can claim to be the oldest league derby games in the world due to these clubs playing eachother on the opening day of the football league on Sept 8th 1888.

08/09/1888 Preston NE 5-2 Burnley
08/09/1888 Wolves......1-1 Aston Villa
08/09/1888 Stoke C.....0-2 WBA

If you include the FA cup fixtures, Notts County played Notts Forest in the first round of the 1879 FA Cup.This game was played 10 years before the football league was founded, thus making it the oldest surving fixture between present day league clubs.
