Oh PLEASE let Hoddle end up there. Gives me ANOTHER reason to hate the club. A big-chinned $$$$$$ managing a $$$$$$ING club full of $$$$$$S and owned by a $$$$$$ :-)

Knew it - Peace forced Bates' hand on the Curbishley issue. Albion miss out again.

I hope Glenda goes to Diiiirrrtttttyyy Lids, or Bolton when they sack Allardyce.

Two clubs I dislike intensely.

What gave you that impression ;-)

That's what comes of having lived and worked up in Leeds during the better part of the Ridsdale years!

Has to be said there is an extreme lack of good managers around for this level at the moment. Can't really think of a realistic target that either Leeds or Albion supporters will be happy with.

Did you know that in the Met you have to call him 'Not-white-well'?

the field is pretty thin, which is why this was so bizarre from Peace. Bates on the other hand is a loon so I could expect anything!

yammer
20-09-2006, 16:22
Perhaps they'll have to tap up a currently employed manager. Other than that they could probably tempt Paul Merson.

paddingtonwolf
20-09-2006, 16:24
surely tapping up doesn't go on in the game?

Blackwell had to go, though. Dreadful manager.

Oh yes - no doubt about that.

Once again though if nobody is lined up to replace him then why sack him on a Wednesday afternoon? I wonder how Leeds fans would feel about having O'leary back?!

That is strange. Why leave him in charge after the Wolves/Sunderland/Coventry defeats and sack him after they won a game (albeit only against Barnet)?

because maybe they didnt have someone lined up at the time?

he did a good job to steady the ship for them but anything more was beyond him.

hoddle going to either leeds or albion will be just perfect

Good call, although the talk is Bates is after Ranieri. Curbishley may be tempted too because potentially its a big club, even if it's still in the Championship.

Ranieri sounds like a possibility to me. Would expect it to be someone connected with Bates anyway and would expect it to happen soon.

because Bates wants Curbishley and actually thinks he might go to Albion.

Not really a surprise, he was never a favourite with the fans. Even when they had won 3-0, you would often hear Leeds fans on radio talk shows wanting Blackwell out.

because Bates wants Curbishley and actually thinks he might go to Albion.

If that were the case why would Bates think he could tempt him ahead of Albion? I honestly can't see anything Leeds could offer that Albion couldn't better.

History shouldn't count for anything at the moment and Albion currently get bigger crowds. I do agree Leeds have more potential but in terms of players, money available and wages Albion are surely far more attractive. Curbishley has already stated however that he don't want to manage in the championship so i can't see him going to either.

What prem job could Curbishley get though in the near future? Newcastle? Tottenham?

Last year I was hoping that the next manager to step on their pitch would be from Mowlem Construction.

After they'd flattened the place.

Now Leeds have all but cleared their debts, I believe they will get a "big time charly" manager in to replace Blackwell.

I wouldn't count Hoddle, Robson or Curbishly out of the equation.

I only hope that they appoint Hoddle, SO he can fail again at this level! ;)

There's two options that don't have any downside at all.

Life couldn't be that kind, could it?:D

So another manager falls.....personally I thought Blackwell did a pretty good job at Leeds and certainly managed to exceed expectations last season..... so much so that it's probably a large part of why he's been sacked now.

Can't see Curbishley wanting to work with Bates so I think we can rule out that. Hoddle at Leeds....can't see that either.....think he's after a London club, if indeed he's bothered about managing again.

Interesting times ahead......Leeds and Albion battling it out for Merson. You heard it here first. ;)

Iv'e heard nobody mention Ruud Guillet yet.He was very successful under Bates at Chelsea and could be a possibility.Gianluca Vialli was another who did well under Bates at Chelsea.Maybe his disasterous spell at Watford rules him out though?

Deutsch Wolf
21-09-2006, 01:26
Gullit's been a disaster at both Newcastle and Feyenoord. Vialli got sacked by Watford four years ago and hasn't worked since. While I've no doubt they're still pally with Bates, neither would be a good bet for the Championship.

Bates will try to get Curbishley, fail and end up with Hoddle or Wise.

Ranieri in the frame according to the papers this morning.
