View Full Version : Merlin contender for manager of the month Grinder 29-08-2006, 07:51 Along with Dave Jones, Nigel Worthington and Peter Taylor. The Bear 29-08-2006, 08:12 DJ will win. John 29-08-2006, 08:13 Who's merlin? Essex Wolf 29-08-2006, 08:22 Give it to Jones. Timberwolf 29-08-2006, 08:48 Give it to Jones. cue, falling off chair and spluttering my coffee! Essex Wolf 29-08-2006, 08:51 cue, falling off chair and spluttering my coffee! Oh no change of heart towards the bloke but hope the award jinx's him like it seems to most managers who get it.:D lon chaney jr 29-08-2006, 09:04 He doesn't manage us any more. Move on. ;) Essex Wolf 29-08-2006, 09:12 He doesn't manage us any more. Move on. ;) I do try but just the mention or site of this blokes name makes my blood boil.;) Uncle Festa 29-08-2006, 09:29 Jones will win it easily and deservedly so. Look at the teams Cardiff have already beaten. Merlin is doing a good job, but we have had a very easy start to the campaign. Not played a decent team yet, where as Cardiff have already locked horns with Albion, Leeds and Blues BlahBlah 29-08-2006, 09:47 Blues, Albion and (to an extent) Leeds have all got great squads on paper, but none have really proved they're good teams yet this season. Albion and Leeds fans' want their managers sacked and Blues have scraped through with last minute goals from players borrowed off Arsenal after booing Bruce's tactics throughout 2 home matches. Cardiff are a bit ahead of Wolves in team building, but we're doing ok. Maybe next month... kennyB 29-08-2006, 09:56 If MM was manager of the season I'd be happier! Sozzled Wolf 29-08-2006, 09:59 I think Jones will get it purely on the points Cardiff have accumulated, however you have to take your hat off to Merlin for turning things around in such a ridiculously short period of time. If Mick wins at some point this season I'll be happy as it obviously means we'll have had a good run of form. Nashie 29-08-2006, 10:18 Jones deserves it because they have had a tough game against Blues and won it. He's doing a very good job with limited funds. Hardcore Wolves 29-08-2006, 12:31 I have a feeling Merlin is going to win it. Flitwick Wolf 29-08-2006, 12:38 1-3 Home loss to Preston on TV will mean MM will not win. HIGHLANDER 29-08-2006, 12:42 Who's merlin?Exactly...You can tell it's the school holidays. Hardcore Wolves 29-08-2006, 14:43 When is it announced ? paddingtonwolf 29-08-2006, 14:46 end of the month I guess - no chance McCarthy will get it. He lost to Preston publicly and his team were dumped out of a cup by Chesterfield. Jones is a shoe-in. Grinder 29-08-2006, 14:58 Cardiff lost to Barnet in the cup but they are unbeaten in the league so DJ should win it. Lupo Italiano 29-08-2006, 15:03 Whether he wins or not (I say 'not' for this month) Merlin has got closer to the award than the highly paid footballing master (GH) ever got! John 29-08-2006, 15:04 Who the $$$$ is Merlin?  Lupo Italiano 29-08-2006, 15:06 Who the $$$$ is Merlin?  Mick McCarthy in July: "My initials may be MM but its stands for Mick McCarthy not Merlin the Magician" Warning us not to expect miracles overnight. So far he was wrong :) thekentwolf 29-08-2006, 20:32 Jones will win it and fair play to him, just hope its the only think he does win this season. ashfordwolf 30-08-2006, 09:08 Jones will win it and fair play to him, just hope its the only think he does win this season. Wouldn't mind if Jones wins loads this season as long as we go up!!!!!! Getting carried away with our early season points tally as I am! Simmowolf 31-08-2006, 14:58 Jones wins http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/cardiff_city/5294958.stm -MTW- 31-08-2006, 15:05 Lump on Preston to beat Cardiff on the 9th it has to be a banker. Visage Wolf 31-08-2006, 15:09 Oh no change of heart towards the bloke but hope the award jinx's him like it seems to most managers who get it.:D The so -called 'jinx' is a myth. Its simply the case that if a manger wins 4 games on the bounce (as most MotM do) then its quite rare to do that two months in a row - hence the perception that a teams form drops after winning - it simply reflects the fact that its generally impossible to do better. paddingtonwolf 31-08-2006, 15:11 *Vis in sensible reply to Essex that verged on the polite explanation shocker* fenella 31-08-2006, 15:11 Mick McCarthy in July: "My initials may be MM but its stands for Mick McCarthy not Merlin the Magician" Warning us not to expect miracles overnight. So far he was wrong :) If we were actually managed by Merlin the Magician, I'd expect us to be higher than fifth. He did some pretty amazing things in his time, surely beating Preston wouldn't be beyond him? Wolvesthrunthru 31-08-2006, 15:12 *Vis in sensible reply to Essex that verged on the polite explanation shocker* Faints................ Visage Wolf 31-08-2006, 15:13 *Vis in sensible reply to Essex that verged on the polite explanation shocker* If it helps i muttered 'So there, you $$$$$$ing $$$$$$' under my breath as I pressed 'Submit reply'...... |
