Just trying to wind people up.
Nothing like alienating a minority of the public by giving them special treatment.
Political Correctness.
Why dont they instigate a Poof Package? Invite them all into the same box on a matchday away from the nasty heterosexuals who want to torture and kill them !!

Surely if you're gay and a football fan you would go to the match anyway. Or is that too obvious.

You're a bit off message Papper, even New Labour have decided that it's not racist to question the influx of immigrants into this paradise on earth!

So why didnt they do it prior to the last election?
I talked to a guy once who flew Spitfires in the Battle of Britain (He was Polish) Now the Battle Cry is ' Sprouts are going unpicked in the fields and Cockles unpicked from the Shores '

No, its not too obvious at all... There are plenty of us...

But to be honest I don't see the point. If gay people are pushing for equality in so many areas, why do they need a special mention here?
It's just a PR case for City - what jobs could we do that they don't have anyway? *cue the hundreds of comments to advise stereotypical job roles*
No, its not too obvious at all... There are plenty of us...

Oh I know - I'm not a "Gay Football Fan", I'm a gay lad who happens to love his football. I'm pretty obsessed with it. And before anyone says, I'd much rather be travelling to Sunderland for a tuesday evening match than be listening to Kylie and drinking alcopops...
I do actually think I may be the most homophobic gay man in existence...

Is a recruitment drive like a beetle drive? Do you roll dice and then pin the appropriate piece of anatomy on the gay? Lets hope they're not masochistic gays, they may like it!

Cancelled due to lack of interest. No alcohol, no music, dress code... no wonder none of them were interested in attending, sounds pretty dull doesn't it!

It all sounds to me like cynical money-grabbing marketing men trying to get some of that pink pound. Its only a matter of time before Jez has a go.

To be fair, I thought it was pretty crappy too. But they had organised to hire the park, just like anyone of us could do if we wished, but still, think of the uproar there'd have been if it was "Christians only day at the towers!"

There were those people who had a wedding there the same weekend but were told they weren't allowed to play music and their guests could drink no alcohol as it would offend the organisers/guests of the Muslim Day

why not?
It is discrimantion plain and simple.
It discriminates against hetrosexuals.
Now lets say some one went out of the way to attract more hetrosexuals in place of homosexuals would that be allowed, just?

Exactly my thinking!
In attempting to not discriminate, they blatantly are!
Football fans are football fans, does it really matter whether they are male, female, gay, straight, muslim, christian, or from mars? (the latter just reserved for David Mellor ;) )

Eh? How are they discriminating against hetrosexuals?
By specificvally targetting 1 section of the community IE Homosexuals they are discriminating against there opposite, Hetrosexuals.
If any one was to target white people to atend a function, it would be discriminating against Non White's.
They call it positive discrimination, there is no such thing as positive discrimination.
All discrimination is wrong and has no part to play in today's society.
Only when all forms of discrimination is recognised as being unjust and unacceptable will the world become more tolerant.

No they aren't. That's not discrimination. If Wolves, say, wanted to encourage more youngsters to attend matches by doing a marketing campaign with an actor from Neighbours (for example), they aren't discriminating against old people. They're just marketing to a specific audience that they feel will result in the biggest increase in revenue.
Wolves currently make attending a match friendly towards $$$$$heads by providing beer. That's good marketing. It pees me off because it means I have to queue to have a slash. But I don't feel it discriminates me just because I drive to the match so can't drink.
They make attending a match friendly to chavs by playing crap music, but I don't feel it discriminates against me just because I'm a hippy.
I think the "ladies day" is a wrong. Yes, they are filling seats that otherwise wouldn't be filled, trying to encourage more women to come, blah blah blah, but why not make it "bring a friend" day?

ummmm not quite. They discriminate against $$$$ heads by outsourcing the catering to a mob who make it impossible to get a pint and consume it within the alloted 15.
but i get your point

Well, according to Glasgowwolf, that would discriminate against people who don't have friends.

Ok so targetting some one on the basis of race, religion, nationality or colour to a place/event is not discrimination.
Thats fine now tell me when a pub targets White's only, no blacks or Asians is that acceptable. Ie a pub landlord says you are not allowed in here due to your colour...
2 people going for the same job one is black one is white the black is better qualified however the owner / manager wants to target whites so gives the white guy the job is that fair ?

A licensee can bar anyone from enteing eth pemesis WITHOUT giving a reason. However, if they then said that reason was based on skin colour, they would be breaking the law.

Another obvious illegality, UNLESS a GOQ applies and there aint many that would allow you to employ a white person over a member of an ethnic minority

Isn't it just a case of encouraging a specific group of people (who may be reticent) to attend matches? They aren't doing it at the expense of any other group... they aren't having a match where only gays can attend, or giving them priority for tickets.

What if you were gay but just didn't fancy them? I mean, if you had to prove you were heterosexual and were given Michelle McManus it would be tough.

Don't be so $$$$ing ridiculous.
The way to attract more families to football matches is to lower the prices and make it a good spectacle not necessarily to encourage gay's to go to football.
Can you imagine Mr and Mrs X saying ' Yes we've decided to take our three kids to the football because we will be sat with nice, peaceful gays. We've decided not to go again though because it cost nearly £250.00 and the football was $$$$$. We've made lovely friends in Justin and Tarquin and they've invited us round for a cup of tea next Saturday. I saw that one player kiss another and hug him and it's just mocking Justion and Tarquin, this homophobic attitude is not needed in this day and age and god forbid my son starts kissing other boys when he plays football and i'm writing to Peter Tatchell to complain'

Would you consider a 'kids for a quid' offer to discriminate against adults?
Obviously.
Even more so against OAP's, who usually pay the same as kids.
Everyone should pay the same price!(Technically paying a pound a game under Hoddle might have been a fair price)

Human Rights Act 1998
Article 14 of the Convention gives the right for an individual not to be
discriminated against. It is concerned with the way in which the other
rights are protected.
This means an issue of discrimination under Article 14 of the Human
Rights Act can only be raised when an alleged breach of another Article is
alleged.
For example: a person alleges an unlawful arrest (breach of Article 5 -
Right to Liberty) but it occurred as a result, or because, of their ethnic
origin (breach of Article 14 - Discrimination).
Areas not covered as yet by legislation are:
Religious beliefs
Age
Sexual Orientation
Stuart Smith

There are currently moves to include age as a discriminatory device.
