View Full Version : chairman wallace 16-08-2006, 10:10 has there been any indication other than rumours about who the new directors will be or when they will be announced? The Punisher 16-08-2006, 11:19 The South coast press stated yesterday that Mandaric is severing all ties with Pompey after their game on Saturday and he is looking to invest in a new club and get back into football immediately! Watch this space! Bill McCai 16-08-2006, 11:23 Do people want Milan Mandaric at Molineux? I have no real opinion on the bloke through lack of knowledge – would his involvement be a good thing for Wolves, or would he spend the time pontificating on Sky Sports? Kenny-11 16-08-2006, 11:24 or would he spend the time pontificating on Sky Sports? The guy phones up SSN whenever he changes his pants.....it gets boring. Bill McCai 16-08-2006, 11:25 In other Pompey related news Aliou Cisse is on trial at Stoke http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=8216 (http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=8216) Any opinions on whether we should be interested? Could he be a cut price Carsley or is he complete dirge? paddingtonwolf 16-08-2006, 11:26 Bilge - of the lowest quality would rather we got Anderton back The Punisher 16-08-2006, 11:27 I'd love him at Molineux. He's not done a bad job at Pompey has he? Do the Pompey fans give a damn about him pontificating on Sky Sports? I wouldn't have thought so! He'd bring some renewed passion to the board and from when I've seen him interviewed seems to have a good knowledge of football in general. Bill McCai 16-08-2006, 11:30 I'd love him at Molineux. He'd bring some renewed passion to the board and from when I've seen him interviewed seems to have a good knowledge of football in general. Pompey are certainly in a better position now. What about the Rix, Zelec, Redknapp soap operas though. Did Milan land lucky or was it all part of the plan? Visage Wolf 16-08-2006, 11:49 Does anyone have any rough figures for what Mandaric spent at Pompey? Salop Wolf 16-08-2006, 12:43 We could possibly do with the money he probably has, but I dont really want to see us return to the old days of being big time charlies in this league and buying old men for £1-2m. The way we are heading now is the the right way IMO, so if he did come in it would be nice to think we could afford to pay the £500k a lower league team wanted for their 'young & hungry' prospect but not £1m for an ageing premiership outcast Florida Wolfey 16-08-2006, 12:48 How many more times do we have to debate this? We simply don't need him or his ego. HIGHLANDER 16-08-2006, 13:02 I'm not too sure about mandric myself..His record was about as abysmal as sir Jacks was until he bought Harry in,then everything seemed to take off for him. One good thing about Manda though is,he's got £32m from the sale of Pompey burning a hole in his pocket at the moment......No don't be stupid, what was I thinking. We want young hungry players who will bond with the fans. Rhoswolf 16-08-2006, 13:06 I fail to follow the argument that a new owner with money to spend is, de facto, bad for the Wolves. Surely it's the way any such money is spent which is the issue. Ultimately, I'd much prefer an owner willing to invest in the playing staff than one who isn't. Essex Wolf 16-08-2006, 13:09 Anyone who can benefit the club is good news in my book. Where they come from I care not. As long as their presence is for the better then bring it on. HIGHLANDER 16-08-2006, 13:18 Being serious,I would welcome Mandric to Wolves with open arms.I think he has a hell of a lot more to offer Wolves than the present owner. Nobody knows for sure whether Mandy is really interested in taking over, but I would hope that sir Jack would do the right thing if he is. PabloWolfo 16-08-2006, 13:21 I'd be happy with Mandraic, as long as he doesn't try and buy instant success, but rather uses his money to allow Wolves not to have to sell of prize assets. boon 16-08-2006, 13:23 I fail to follow the argument that a new owner with money to spend is, de facto, bad for the Wolves. Another intelligent comment like that and you're banned. Visage Wolf 16-08-2006, 13:25 I'd be happy with Mandraic, as long as he doesn't try and buy instant success, but rather uses his money to allow Wolves not to have to sell of prize assets. But thats the problem. Lets say Mandaric comes in and says 'We're going to build slowly and get a firm basis for long term success'. Hard to argue with that. But the next time we lose a match the usual suspects will appear in droves demanding that he splash the cash to prove that he's still interested and to avoid relegation, which they will claim is inevitable. Bumbamuffin 16-08-2006, 13:28 I fail to follow the argument that a new owner with money to spend is, de facto, bad for the Wolves. Surely it's the way any such money is spent which is the issue. Ultimately, I'd much prefer an owner willing to invest in the playing staff than one who isn't. I couldn't agree more.Whilst I do buy into this 'new' Wolves to a degree,IMO the Wolves board have done an excellent job in persuading fans that spending money on players is the wrong way of approaching things. As you say,if the money we've spent had been spent correctly (and more evenly) throughout SJH's tenure,we would certainly not be in the position we are now.It seems we've now learned about the correct player profile(age, attitude etc) after the money's been wasted. If Mandaric(or anyone else for that matter) could come in and spend wisely,I'd take him in a shot. Essex Wolf 16-08-2006, 13:31 But thats the problem. Lets say Mandaric comes in and says 'We're going to build slowly and get a firm basis for long term success'. Hard to argue with that. And you have the nerve to say others are monotonous. You really are priceless as well as ignorant. No matter how often it is said that SJH is not expected to bank roll the club as he has in the past you conveniently ignore it. Grow up VW FFS or shut up and let others have opinions. Could i direct you to the forum rules, which clearly state: Personal Attacks. Criticise ideas, not people. Flaming will not be tolerated. This includes any material which the admin/mods deem to be overtly vulgar, defamatory, inaccurate, harassing, hateful, threatening, invading of others privacy, sexually oriented, or violates any laws. Its getting tiresome now. If you wish to abuse me, do so by PM, rather than clutter up threads with it. I dont want to hear it and I doubt anyone else does either. Bumbamuffin 16-08-2006, 13:36 And you have the nerve to say others are monotonous. You really are priceless as well as ignorant. No matter how often it is said that SJH is not expected to bank roll the club as he has in the past you conveniently ignore it. Grow up VW FFS or shut up and let others have opinions. Essex,VW is just a wind-up merchant with a superiority complex.Everyone knows that.I wish you'd stop biting because you're becoming as monotonous as he is and the forum is suffering as a result. Mutchy 16-08-2006, 13:40 Its all getting tiresome. How many threads do I have to read the same bickering? Essex, Visage is allowed his opinions too, and the posts you are reacting to are no worse than ones made by many others. This is a discussion forum - the whole point of it is differing opinions. State them without getting personal. Bill McCai 16-08-2006, 13:41 But what do you lot know about Mandaric? What is his style of leadership? I appreciate Pompey are doing OK for themselves now but was it an easy transition? Is there a chance that Mandaric at Wolves would be a bad thing? Was his time at Portsmouth all successful, or could it have gone haywire at anypoint. Would he be commited to Wolves? We all want to see Wolves in the Premiership but I think we need to make sure any investor or appointment we consider is correct for the club – do you not agree? johnybig32 16-08-2006, 13:42 What were we talking about again? johnybig32 16-08-2006, 13:42 Doug Ellis anyone??;) welshwolf 16-08-2006, 13:44 Could i direct you to the forum rules, which clearly state: I am suprised you knew about these as one of the most vulgar posters on this forum as much as Essex can go on a bit you are the no one offender on her, talk about pot calling the kettle Visage Wolf 16-08-2006, 13:45 Doug Ellis anyone??;) Be careful what you wish for ;) SJH has made his fair share of mistakes, but I'd have him any day of the week over some shady consortium or some here today, gone tomorrow publicity whore like Mandaric. Essex Wolf 16-08-2006, 13:45 Could i direct you to the forum rules, which clearly state: Its getting tiresome now. If you wish to abuse me, do so by PM, rather than clutter up threads with it. I dont want to hear it and I doubt anyone else does either. You hypocritical fool. Last time I sent you a PM you totally ignored it so that's pointless.Try taking some of your own tiresome advice. You are among the worst on here for unnecessary abusive language and insults yet run for the moral highground when being made to look the distasteful poster you are. I know about the forum rules but you have been allowed to flout them without reproach far to often. Anyone who can continually get away with calling posters "$$$$$$" has no right to seek the rules protection.Again you go running for the moral high ground with just about just singles you out for the two faced poster you are. But Bumbamuffin is spot on and maybe if everyone were to ignore this thread spoiling, hypocritcal, ironic Machiavellian then a beter and mre pleasant place it would be. johnybig32 16-08-2006, 13:46 See, he can make sensible responses....whats that Beatles song?? "let it be...?" Visage Wolf 16-08-2006, 13:51 See, he can make sensible responses....whats that Beatles song?? "let it be...?" I've tried....God only knows i've tried... Anyways, back on topic. How many chairman in the league are truly loved by the fans? It strikes me that we're no different to most fans - we ask that money be pumped in all the time, and at the slightest hint that things arent going to plan, we demand that more cash is pumped in to put things right. paddingtonwolf 16-08-2006, 14:06 ENOUGH!!!!!!!!! For god's bleeding sake rein it in. There are interesting subjects to debate today getting lost in a morass of sniping rubbish. Sad |
