Not a bad choice at all. holloholloway 15-08-2006, 15:41 Where did this info come from. Who scored? who played? and who played well? nothing on the official site yet holloholloway 15-08-2006, 15:43 news now. Hopefully be on the official site. Bill McCai 15-08-2006, 15:47 Automatic promotion back on the agenda then. Wolvesthrunthru 15-08-2006, 15:52 Seyi gets 2! (http://www.wolves.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10307~882742,00.html) Tomasz 15-08-2006, 15:52 .. gordonchas 15-08-2006, 15:52 I think you'll find frankowski is currently with Poland! From Northampton Town site: Northampton Town took a reserve team to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday afternoon for a behind closed doors practice match. The Cobblers have a reserve team home game against Stevenage Borough on Wednesday afternoon (2pm), but John Gorman arranged the fixture to give players like Lee Harper, Sean Dyche, Eoin Jess, Jerome Watt, Ryan Gilligan, Brad Johnson and Brett Johnson a run out against Championship opposition. "Some of the Wolves squad are away on international duty but they included a side where every player had first team experience," said Gorman It was good for our players pushing for a start at Gillingham on Saturday that they could play against players like Rohan Ricketts, Jody Craddock, Leon Clarke and the rest and that gave us a good chance to assess our side. I felt we would learn more that way. Bahama Wolf 15-08-2006, 15:59 I expect Seyi to start on Saturday on the strength of that performance and his cameo performance last Friday, good to see him coming into some form, long may it continue. paddingtonwolf 15-08-2006, 16:00 sounds like senda had a good outing and rosa is back. smilies all round everyone AmericanWolf 15-08-2006, 16:00 If Seyi gets hot, he could be an amazing presence in midfield. Maybe he'll finally live up to all the hype from when we brought him in. Nashie 15-08-2006, 16:14 sounds like senda had a good outing and rosa is back. smilies all round everyone Not meaning to $$$$ on the parade but Senda seems to be a strange player to look at. He's played 200 games for Wycombe and yet nobody else has come in for him? Has anybody seen him play? The 'young and hungry' thing to my mind seemed to be about looking at players who were $$$$-hot at a lower level and could make the step up. If Senda is that good then after 200 games... why is he still at Wycombe? paddingtonwolf 15-08-2006, 16:15 nothing wrong with a healthy bit of scepticism Nashie, but MM wanted a look at him and it sounds like he played pretty well, so maybe he has seen something he likes. Bill McCai 15-08-2006, 16:17 Not meaning to $$$$ on the parade but Senda seems to be a strange player to look at. He's played 200 games for Wycombe and yet nobody else has come in for him? Bill McCai 15-08-2006, 16:19 http://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/display.var.873476.0.senda_rules_out_blues_return. php The Bear 15-08-2006, 16:20 Olofinjana gets two goals. Good news but it's only Northampton. Senda sounded as though he was busy. Also good news that Rosa played and impressed as well. Hope to see him in the first team vs Burnley. One thing though, why is he playing Breen, Craddock (half each), Ricketts, and to a lesser extent Henry, when they have just played 3 games in 6 days and looked tired against Preston? John Gorman mentioned on their website that we fielded a team with all the players having first team expereience. Don't remember Riley playing for us yet, unless he includes being on the bench as first team experience? Oh and anyone notice the banner at the top of the website is different bow. More simple black and gold, with Bothroyd's mush grinning at you. The Bear 15-08-2006, 16:22 I think Leeds were looking at signing him but there was some hold up or something? Think it might have been Luton. goldeneyed 15-08-2006, 16:26 Its time for Seyi to come into the limelight. If he can find his international form it could transform our midfield. With Mark Davies and Rosa too our midfield could start to buzz at last. We still need a powerful, pacy wideman however and little sign of anything happening. Gobern keeps getting injured and has a long way to go to prove himself. Henry and O'Connor should be useful reserves, and no more imv, if this club is going to start motoring this season. paddingtonwolf 15-08-2006, 16:26 and Leeds too apparently. Also he is an u-19 England international which I didn't know. johnybig32 15-08-2006, 16:29 Champions;) Midfield should be... Senda Seyi Henry Rosa paddingtonwolf 15-08-2006, 16:31 with davies to come back in that isn't too shabby. Ricketts and Finkler also available. Maybe Carsley to anchor it if we open the cheque book. hmm - pretty decent wolf of sedgley 15-08-2006, 16:37 I expect Olofinjana and Rosa to both start on Saturday. Maybe even Senda right wing if he is signed. Still need a left winger though and i'm not sure Clapham is the answer- i would however drop Naylor and play him left back. AmericanWolf 15-08-2006, 16:41 I think Ricketts has been playing decently and deserves his first team spot. Clapham is a proven player, I think he'll only get better as he begins to get a feel for the rest of our team. Ricketts -- Henry -- Olofinjana -- Clapham looks pretty good to me, with Davies, Rosa and O'Connor coming off the bench. wolf of sedgley 15-08-2006, 16:41 Henry and O'Connor should be useful reserves, and no more imv, if this club is going to start motoring this season. I disagree about Henry. I think he will turn out to be a very shrewd signing. O'connor i'm not so sure about- he could turn out to be a good midfielder at this level or he could be a below average one. imo he has not played enough first team games to be judged just yet. goldeneyed 15-08-2006, 16:42 Senda is a right back come right midfielder. Basically a utility player as I understand it. Perhaps he's ok in that role. But I think we badly need an out and out winger especially at home where we lack penetration and variety in attack. We need some players who can frighten the opposition a bit. Only Boothroyd seems to offer any real threat at the moment. PabloWolfo 15-08-2006, 16:42 Olofinjana gets two goals. More simple black and gold, with Bothroyd's mush grinning at you. I think Breen might still need to build on his fitness (as does Henry) but I'm also confused as to why Craddock needed a run out. Markwolf 15-08-2006, 16:44 Id swap them over. Give Naylor a run wide left with Clapham at LB. Or at least try it in the cup game next week. wolf of sedgley 15-08-2006, 16:44 I think Ricketts has been playing decently and deserves his first team spot. Clapham is a proven player, I think he'll only get better as he begins to get a feel for the rest of our team. Ricketts -- Henry -- Olofinjana -- Clapham looks pretty good to me, with Davies, Rosa and O'Connor coming off the bench. I'm sorry but Rosa is much better player than Ricketts. Ricketts may have started playing better than last season (which is not hard i might add!), but at this moment we need all the quality we can get into hte starting 11 and Rosa brings a high work rate and goals which ultimately offers the team more. jabbawolf 15-08-2006, 16:45 I think Breen might still need to build on his fitness (as does Henry) but I'm also confused as to why Craddock needed a run out. I very much hope you are right. But he is 23 and has plenty of experience in this league. Its a tough world and the expectation is that he has to get up to speed fast. Otherwise, as I say, a useful reserve. But if he can rise to the occasion he will save us an awful lot of money and play a key role. fenella 15-08-2006, 16:46 I thought Ricketts (brief) second half performance on Friday was truly shocking. Markwolf 15-08-2006, 16:47 I'm sorry but Rosa is much better player than Ricketts. Ricketts may have started playing better than last season (which is not hard i might add!), but at this moment we need all the quality we can get into hte starting 11 and Rosa brings a high work rate and goals. Agreed, i'm a Rosa fan, and I think he can play the breaking midfield role that Cameron did to great effect in our promotion season. wolf of sedgley 15-08-2006, 16:52 I agree, Rosa is the Hungarian Cameron. By the way, where is Finkler? I hope he isn't just tossed aside by McCarthy ala Frankowski. goldeneyed 15-08-2006, 16:53 I'm sorry but Rosa is much better player than Ricketts. Ricketts may have started playing better than last season (which is not hard i might add!), but at this moment we need all the quality we can get into hte starting 11 and Rosa brings a high work rate and goals. Ricketts still looks very lightweight and flakey to me. Has some talent but does he have the maturity and consistency needed? It was not for nothing that both Arsenal and Spurs didn't want to hang on to him. And at 22/23 he should be doing the business by now. I would like Eagles on loan but I suppose that is too much to ask for while our club sets its sights so low this season. goldeneyed 15-08-2006, 16:57 I agree, Rosa is the Hungarian Cameron. By the way, where is Finkler? I hope he isn't just tossed aside by McCarthy ala Frankowski. Yes I hope Finkler is going to remain on MM's first team radar. We desperately need some creativity as well as 'triers'. It would be great if someone like him could break through and offer something fresh to the team. Too many of the current lot are predictable plodders and average at best. wolf of sedgley 15-08-2006, 17:04 I would like Eagles on loan but I suppose that is too much to ask for while our club sets its sights so low this season. Yep, that is the type of player we should be trying to get on loan, and to be quite honest i don't think there is any reason why we shouldn't. Cardiff got that highly rated Arsenal kid (forgot name!) so why shouldn't we be able to? Cardiff ffs! Wulfhere 15-08-2006, 17:11 Yes I hope Finkler is going to remain on MM's first team radar. We desperately need some creativity as well as 'triers'. It would be great if someone like him could break through and offer something fresh to the team. Too many of the current lot are predictable plodders and average at best. He is also a dead ball specialist and our set pieces have been woeful this season so far. Wulfhere 15-08-2006, 17:28 There is a report in tonights E&S about the game. "Trialist Jemal Johnson gave an impressive display as Wolves beat Northampton in a friendly at Compton today." "It was tricky striker Johnson, on trial from Blackburn, who would have caught the watching Mick McCarthy's eye. "Live wire forward Johnson who partnered Leon Clarke up front, hit the post just before half time and looked a constant threat with his probing runs and excellent ball control." "Denes Rosa also completed a lively 90 minutes as he looked to play himself into contention for Saturdays trip to Burnley." "Former Wycombe man Senda showed some good touches from right midfield but faded as the game wore on." holloholloway 15-08-2006, 17:31 Jemal johnson is a sensation at reserve level with 1 goal in 2 but he needs to raise the stakes and score at a higher level. See no reason why we can't have him on loan and see how he does and then make a decision. holloholloway 15-08-2006, 17:33 There is a report in tonights E&S about the game. Gives more an insight into the trialists than the official report. I am a bit concerned that mccarthy said they only did "okay" rather than "well". Uncle Festa 15-08-2006, 17:49 Ricketts has one cracking game in 7-8 matches and is then generally useless. He seems to perform against teams that let you play like Ipswich and Reading but when the tackles come flying in, or it gets too cold for him, he disappears. OldWolvesfart 15-08-2006, 18:22 Sounding positive with Oli hitting form and Rosa back. Agree on the Ricketts comments he was beaten to often with a strong tackle or a solid shoulder nudge on Friday when he should have beating players with his pace. Sounds as if Clarke failed to do much, once again. Wulfhere 15-08-2006, 18:39 Daniel Jones was also mentioned in despatches for making some good runs down the left wing. Essex Wolf 15-08-2006, 18:59 Some promising comments. Wulfhere 15-08-2006, 19:05 Surprising that Finkler and McNamarra did not play. McNamarra must be some way from fitness yet and has Finkler been shunted into the sidings with Frankowski or is he carrying a knock that we do not know about. Essex Wolf 15-08-2006, 19:11 Surprising that Finkler and McNamarra did not play. McNamarra must be some way from fitness yet and has Finkler been shunted into the sidings with Frankowski or is he carrying a knock that we do not know about. I thought McNamara was close to a return but read somewhere a few days back he was still a way off full fitness. Deutsch Wolf 15-08-2006, 19:18 I think Ricketts has been playing decently and deserves his first team spot. Wrong on all counts. Wulfhere 15-08-2006, 19:27 I also thought Gobern was fit and available for Saturday. If that is the case, was Ricketts given a chance today to show improved form or lose his place or was Gobern being fit just more bad E&S reporting? basher 15-08-2006, 19:50 I think Breen might still need to build on his fitness (as does Henry) but I'm also confused as to why Craddock needed a run out. Maybe to try and improve the understanding with Breen The only thing wrong with that was that according to the official site they weren't on the pitch at the same time. GoldenHorseshoe 16-08-2006, 02:34 We're obviously short of news reports from the club, many posts asking about Rosa, now questions about Finkler. Maybe MM is still in the assessment phase, but I thought that one of his strengths was connecting with the fans? |
