Craddock or Breen
Naylor or Clapham

never both of either

I disagree with you a bit.

I know Friday was a bad night but Naylor and Clapham down the left may become a good combination. It isearly to judge.

Breen and Craddock clearly isn't a pacey combination (to say the least) but they both have an ability to read the game which is of value to us. Until Gyepes recovers, it will probably be our centre back partnership in most games.

I agree with paddington that Naylor/Clapham could become a good left-sided partnership.

I'm really not sold on Breen/Craddock though. I'd drop one of them and give Rob Edwards a game in central defence. He's got that bit of extra mobility, and I remember him playing well in central defence at the start of last season before he started to have a new position every week. A good run of 5 games or so in the centre and I think he'll grow in stature.

Ideally, I'd play Gyepes/Craddock or Gyepes/Breen. But knowing our track history, I'm holding very little hope of seeing Gyepes much this season.

Gyepes/Breen would be good I think, but until he comes back that's obviously not going to happen. Once Jackie Mac is fit again, I'd like to see Edwards and Breen in the middle. Craddock is underperforming and needs time on the bench.

He was widely regarded as Man of the Match agaianst Plymouth. One (admittedly bad) error in three games doesn't seem too bad a record.

Craddock is club captain. Breen is the addition this summer that Mick knows very well from previous jobs.

I really cannot see him changing the centre backs just yet.

I agree, but I hope he does not stick to both of them out of loyalty/stubborness

Fair point, it was a pretty bad mistake though :)

Shouldn't that be an ugly bad mistake ?:)

McCarthys Sunderland defences were always notoriously slow, they had Bjorklund and Breen for much of his tenure there.

Fully agree and I've said as such re the central pairing just now on another thread.
