Surprised noone has commented on Baggies buying Shi*tu for £2.25m rising to £3m. I have always rated him myself but that's a lot of dosh for someone who has only proved themselves at Championsip level so far.
Nevertheless with Davies they have the best CB partnership in the division. And have to admit I admire the way they have held on to their best players against the odds (prepare for abuse). No wonder they are favourites to go up, they have a very good squad now and if Hartson stays fit will walk this division imv. Robson may not be a great manager but they seem to have played it very cleverly financially and given him the platform for a quick return. Apart from the Blues can't see anyone challenging them.
I think we are two good signings away from making a good fist of it this season (ie making the top 8).

Bryan Robson is the manager.
Yes $$$$u is a good player but 2.5m? , Merlin could buy an entire squad for that and still have money left to buy 28,500 season tickets and a 3 course meal for every fan!!

I must admit Albion have got the best squad in the division. Hopefully Robson will keep turning up $$$$ed to matches and drag them down. Blues have got a great team as well- particularly up front and have loadsamoney!

Hot off the press - Birmingham have just got their third Arsenal youngster on board, Niklas Bendtner, 18, Danish U.21 international, 18 goals from 24 reserve games last season. Someone I had hoped we would move for. Obviously got a hot line to Wenger as Muamba and Larsson were the other two they got in.
Meanwhile Coventry have signed Luke Steele for the season from Man U and got in a Moroccan midfielder Faisal el Idrissi. Sunderland have signed up Daryl Murphy on a five year deal having done the same with Whitehead and Lawrence and also got Wales keeper Darren Ward on a free from Norwich.. Have also failed in an attempt to get in both Reid and Davenport from Spurs. Ian Westlake has signed for Leeds with Dan Harding and 500k going back to Ipswich.
Its going to be a tough season but hopefully MM still has some pleasant surprises up his sleeve before the transfer window closes.

Varying reports but today's London Evening Standard says £2.25m rising to £3m (if promoted).

A lot of people said the same about us when we went down:
Expectant fans
Pressure to perform
Fans not overly convinced by the manager
Premierhsip players adapting to the championshipIt'll all end in tears - Southend will be Robson's Gillingham.

Yeah but we had a bunch of over- paid over-aged unmotivated wasters and the idiot DJ in charge plus an owner who didn't want to know anymore. They have Gera, Davies, Ellington, Kamara, Quashie, Hartson and now Shi*tu to name but seven. A supportive board and an ok manager (admittedly not brilliant) But in a way you are right, the pressure will be on them to win week after week. However, I am afraid they may well do so more often than not in this league.

Busy Friday. Derby have now signed Ryan Smith from Arsenal and Sunderland Robbie Elliott from Newcastle on a loan basis. Plus Birmingham have also confirmed clinching a deal for defender Jahdi from Bolton

Derby have also signed Matt Oakley. If fit a good signing.

Lescott had also only proven himself at Championship level

yes but he was a class above most other championship players for a number of years.

Year after year we've been one of the favourites for promotion and, apart from once, we've failed.
The only team to guaranteed to win their league are Chelski, for a billion obvious reasons. So I doubt if the three favourites for the championship will all get promoted, because they never do. It's the reason we all love the game, almost anything can happen.
Both the Boggies and the Blooze have to play a lot of tricky Midland derbies, including those against a Wolves team who have Big Mick in charge and are likely to put in more effort than they have in recent years.
On the law of averages either the Boggies or the Blooze will fail and while I doubt if even Big Mick can get his team into the top six this season we might at least cause one of our neighbours to sack their manager!
