new beginning..new hope...for me anyway.

Can't believe the difference i'm feeling now rather than a month ago.
A month ago i wasn't looking forward to the new season at all, in fact i couldn't remember a time when i had looked less forward to a new season, but suddenly there is excitement again.
New players aplenty, a new attitude from the manager and from the reports of people watching the training session there seems to be a new attitude on the training pitch.
Hungry new players, some local who actually support the club, and possibly new players on the way too.

Bring the new season and whatever it brings at least it's interesting again.

Agreed. If you had told me this time last year Mick McCarthy would be our manager in July 2006 I would have cried. However, after initial cynicism it is quite obvious he is a better man to manage Wolves than Glenn Hoddle. I know we haven’t seen any 'end product' yet but the way things are looking up compared to what they were a couple of weeks ago is very promising. Here's hoping for a new look Wolves and a successful campaign.

Plus of course the young players we've already got at the club like Davies, Little and O'Connor, the latter looked excellent against Villa and hopefully Davies will be back soon, i think he may have a big season ahead of him.

A week? i demand 6 points by saturday night, nothing else will do.

seriously though, i'll be backing the lads and MM no matter what, i think we've got a good future to look forward too.

Inevitably there'll be plenty of trauma and outrage through the course of the season. But I'm really looking forward to it. It seems weird that MM has only been here for 12 days or so - the club seems so different now to how it was at the end of last season.

We just need a couple of quality signings now and I think we will be ok. A winger definitely and an experienced defensive midfielder like Carsley. I'm nervous about the centre of defence and its slowness which could cost us dear. But overall things are slowly looking up and on the face of it MM has had a good impact so far. But I don't expect results to improve for a couple of months at least. Up till then we could be in for a rough ride as a team gradually forms.

Exactly the same for me mate. Even when his name was mooted after Hoddle quit I was crossing fingers, toes, everything, hoping that it wouldnt be MM. But he is saying all the right things, and doing all the right things. At this rate I'll start to actaully believe....

MM is defineitely making all the right noises about the players needing to be hungry, motivated, focused et al. We never really seemed to get that from Hoddle. Sometimes it seemed his football was 'too good' for us and the Division and if us philistines couldn’t see that we were putting teams to the sword ( but not yielding any points ) then we actually deserved to be left to rot in the Championship. He was a very arrogant man and many people accuse Wolves of being an arrogant club. I would suggest otherwise – I think the fans will get behind the team as long as they can see they are doing everything in their power to win. As Bilston mentioned, the fact many of the players coming through are our own or very 'up' about playing for us gives us more hope………..I think MM might give Wolverhampton Wanderers its pride back.

...unless we lose to the boggies 3 - 0 ........

which we will... for all the players we've bought in, and the new positive McCarthyism around, the harsh reality is that West Brom haven't had to sell any of their players and they have a squad at the moment which is infinitely better than ours...

Birmingham I'm not worried about - went to see them vs Spurs in the pre-season and they are probably even worse than us defensively - but they have a nippy front two...

But West Brom, well... I don't think we're gonna get anything off them guys, unless a miracle happens.

I am more optimistic about things than last month but I still think we will struggle this season.

I keep reading about these 'young and hungry' players but the problem is I don't think we have signed any.

Karl Henry is being overhyped on this board on the basis of a decent performance in a pre season friendly... which we lost 3 nil.

Our forward line needs some serious work and I don't think Jay Bothroyd was the player to bring in and I don't think McCarthy can spot a good striker.

I'd still like to see us bring in Lee Carsley.

Yep...looking forward to this season because I have absolutely no expectations. Just want to see us gel as a group, learn by our mistakes, and by the end of the season to be showing an improvement over day one.

Looking forward to it in soem ways.

Think it will take time to adjust to being the underdogs against teams like Coventry, Derby et al though...

I am also looking forward to this season i have full faith in MM. Although i am not expecting promotion or a play off place, this season IMO is to rebuild and gel together a young hungry team.

I am looking forward to it. The team should be a bit younger a bit quicker and lot more entertaining to watch. Like others I feel this season will be difficult and I have no expectations of reaching a play off position, I will be happy if I can see the nucleus of a good young team by the end of the season. Hopefully we can have a few results along the way to cheer the spirit like sticking it to the Baggies and the bloose.

When the Hod aws still at the club I could see nothing but a relegation fight ( without the fight! ). Now, I'm not so sure that we won't struggle, ( at first ), but at least I think Big Mick will have them fighting all the way.

I've even booked a day off work to go to the Ipswich game and there is no way I would have done that if Hodgod was still in charge!

It almost seems like we've gone back to the days where you support the club through thick and thin - like the mid/late eighties. Expectations have changed, high earners shifted and players are in that want to play for the club, and a new sense of unity.

I've not been to many matches the last few seasons - my daughter now plays on Saturdays - but I have to admit that i've been less inclined to the last couple of seasons. It feels different now, last week I took the kids down to get the new shirts and it was like, 'i really want to come down again, win, lose or draw'.

Ok i'll shut up now.

Up the Wolves!

I currently have a lot of optimism for the team in midfield and up front. It looks varied and well balanced with youth and experience.

I'm just bricking about our defence. Not only is it slow but we have plenty of error prone first choices like Naylor, Craddock and Edwards. McNamara is the only one who fills me with any confidence, at least until I see Breen with my own eyes anyway.

Murray is going to be key as well if we can keep him fit. He'll make a big difference IMO.

If anything is going to be our undoing it's the defence. I hope Mick can work his magic in this area the most.
