...according to today's Sun. Hope so, ensure he wont go out on a free next year. Really hope he can have a good season...

it'll never be for 3 years if he does sign one. 2 at the most

I would imagine that if he does sign a new contract it will have some kind of a release clause in it thereby protecting his own interests. Mutually beneficial in that he can still leave if he chooses but Wolves can still command a transfer fee.

Well if Palace had offered him more money he would have gone, so his reward is a 3 year deal? - the games bent.........

......if he ever gets round to signing an extension, I reckon it's bull$$$$.
Why would any ambitious player commit himself long term to Wolves at the moment? Nobody knows what's happening.
12 months and Cort can walk away for nothing then pick up a million quid signing on fee. Which is the more attractive option?

If he gets a new contract there should be a certain element of pay as you play in it.

Yeah, maybe goal related pay as well would be good??! :)

That makes Jez's negotiations tough to call, if he drops the offer, Carl could go on a Bosman, yet if MM wants to keep him he will probably have to pay over the odds for him.

Poor Jez. :)

Nice to see a player show some loyalty for a change tho! ;)

Hope he can regain his early season form of the last campaign (minus injuries of course!)

If only Cort could go up a gear or two our prospects would be transformed. He still has the potential imv to be a 20 goal striker but can he stay fit and does he have the motivation? Also do we have the players to provide him with a decent service? A quality winger is crucial and perhaps young Davies with his pace will prove to be a useful foil for him.

I wouldn't offer him more than a two year deal as things stand with perhaps an extra year's option.

It's a strange situation, whether the club is doing this to protect their ' investment ' or they think Cort will come good?? ;)

If Cort stays healthy then great..if not Wolves have covered themselves by being able to sell him on now. Remember our Julian renewed his contract just before he was sold allowing Wolves to get more for him I would think.

I just can't see this especially when apparently he refused to have a clause in his current contract reducing his wages if we got relegated from the Premiership. I'd have thought that he will see out his current contract and do a Miller, unless we keep him on the same terms as now, which goes against all that Moxey has been trying to do in getting rid of the bigger earners.

Yep...good points, I do think it's a shame he didn't want to go to Palace, yes he can score goals while fit, but again; only playing for half the season is no good to us.

Nothing to do with the money was it Carl?

Why would you stay at Wolves when your family live in London, they have far better prospects than us next season and the fans think your crap?

Answer; The green stuff, plain and simple.

Getting him on a contract is a good thing. Firstly we can force his wages down, and secondly it means we dont have the dilemma over wether to try and cashi in now or maybe wait and see.

Its all good.

Crystal Palace have claimed it was they who pulled the plug on Wolves striker Carl Cort's transfer, and not the player, as had been earlier reported.
A fee had been agreed with the Black Country club for the former Newcastle player's transfer, only for the deal to hit an undisclosed hitch.
It had been claimed that Cort had rejected a move to South East London, but Palace director of football Bob Dowie sought to set the record straight.
"I would like to tell all the Palace fans that it was us that turned the deal off, not the player," he explained to the club's official website.
SNIP
""We eventually got it over the line, agreed a fee with Wolves and brought him down here, but unfortunately it would not have been in Palace's interest to drive the deal forward.""

So...wages then?
Bet you £10 he doesn't sign on again....
