View Full Version : Prediction League 2006/2007

I will be running a new one starting for all the fixtures of the championship 2006-2007.
Players can join up until 1800 Friday 04/08/06
£10 to play for the whole season. Payments can be made here http://www.molineuxmix.co.uk/predpayment.html
The money will be split in this way:
50% less charges to MM running costs
50% less charges to the prize fund
Prizes
1st 50% of the prize fund
2nd 35% of the prize fund
3rd 15% of the prize fund
This one could be very important to the upkeep of the site as we are now running at close on max capacity on the current shared server, with around 8 million page impressions a month possibly 10 million this month.
40+ players would be fantastic!
Points are awared as follows:
3 Points for a correct score. i.e. you predict 3-1 and the result is 3-1.
1 Point for a correct result. You predict 1-1, the score is 2-2.Goal Difference
For each correct teams number of goals you score, you receive that number of +goals. e.g. you predicit 2 and the team scores 2, you get +2 goals.
For each incorrect number of goals you predict per team, you lose the difference in goals. e.g. you predict 3 and the team scores 2, you get -1 goals. Also 5 bonus points will be added to one fixture at random, by me, for the correct score in one match.

2 Point for a correct result. You predict 1-1, the score is 2-2.
I think it should be 3 & 1 points. Less difference than we had last season, but still enough of a reward for a correct score - after all there's a one in three chance of getting the result right. Also reflects the league points system, ie 3 for a win, and 1 for a draw.
yes count me in..

I also agree with Mutchy's points changes. 3 and 1 is much better.
Also, a similar comp I do for the Premiership on another forum, which is very popular, has it like this:
Correct score : 5 points
Outcome & No Of Goals in match : 3
Correct outcome only : 2 points
Correct No of Goals only: 1 point
Predict a 6 goal game spot on : +2 bonus points
Oh and what are the point of these rules if we get 0 points for them?:
0 Points for predicting the correct number of goals by at least one team.
0 Points for predicting the correct number of goals for the home team.
0 Points for predicting the correct number of goals for the away team.

The 3&1 sounds good and how about two Jokers( or 2 Moxeys call it what you will) per person to be played on any two games in the prediction league for double points on those two games only. So 3 would be 6 etc.

Its a good idea but i have no way of doing it within the software.
I'm in regardless. I like 3/1 points split. 3/2 doesn't give enough credit to the exact score.
The Bear
15-07-2006, 20:36
3 and 1 definitely TIM.
Oh, and completely agree with the 3/1 split on points. 3/2 wont give enough difference between a right result and a correct score, which is soooo much harder to get.

Paypal is the easiest of the 2 to get up and running. You register, and you can pay funds directly by credit card which I find the easiest and definitely safest and most secure (mostly on ebay). Can't remember if it's immediately after registering you can send money though.
If anyone is still dubious they can pay me by bank transfer/cheque/whatever if they want, and I'll send the Paypal on their behalf.

nochex is easiest imo, 100% secure & no account needed with them to send under £100. Fill out the form at http://www.molineuxmix.co.uk/predpayment.html and follow the instructions. PM or email me webmaster@molineuxmix.co.uk with any questions.

You can do it Invisible just PM some of those big posters that haven't joined yet like Visage, Kenny 11, Leeds etc. Tell them to stop bickering and come and join the league it will lighten their spirits and give them a whole new perspective on community life, not to mention the cash prizes.

I hadn't read the rules.
I'd assumed that we would just be predicting the Wolves results!! This is a lot more work.
Still, at least it will give me a chance to improve on my almost last place in the World Cup league.
Tactics will be to predict a 2:1 home win for every match in the season so that if I don't forget to enter any scores, like I did last time.
Well done TIM and the others for organising it and good luck to everyone.

Hi
Not sure I quite understand the scoring
I predicted a 2-1 vicorty to Coventry over Sunderland so should I have gained the following points
3 points for the correct score
1 point for the correct result
2 points for predicting 2 coventry goals
1 point for predicting 1 sunderland goal
As such I would have scored 7 points for that match however I only appear to have been awarded 4. my points tally has gone from 6 up to 10
Have I misunderstood the way things work?
