Wolves managed to pay a bit less in agents fees last season than they have previously, it's still a massive amount of money to pay out though. The amount we pay out in a season could pay for another player.

I may be wrong, but didnt they have a vote recently which now stipulates that the players pay the agents rather than the club?? :)

Maybe the players will then ask for more signing on fees to cover the costs?

I predict that we will pay even less in agents fees over the next twelve months.......

Who had a vote?

I don't see this happening although it's more desireable than the current anarchy.

The reason it won't happen is because the Football League and the Premier League don't have the resource or desire to Police it.

As I said I may be wrong, I thought the football league Chairmans met abroad recently and had a vote on it? :)

It would be a good forward step but the reason I don't see it happening is that sometimes a club wants to sell a player and they commission an agent to do that. In that case, the club would pay the fee....although it's not unknown for more than one party to pay such a fee.

Same goes for a buying club when they want a player that isn't available. The buying club would then pay the fee.

I think this covers most of the points raised...... :)

Quote from Lord Mawhinney; " Two of these changes in particular are likely to lead to a reduction in what clubs pay to agents. First, there will be no dual representation - an agent will have to represent either the club or the player. Secondly, agents will no longer be able to pass on to clubs the costs of representing a player"

DW - you $$$$$$$! I couldn't cut and paste from the League's website and was trying to type whilst answering the phone...

It's certainly a step in the right direction but this only applies to the FL. The Prem clubs are not included and as player trading happens between FL and PL there is still a rather convienient loophole. It's all very good to see.....but are the FL going to properly Police it? They haven't in the past.

Its all well and good voting and making tougher regulations but like you say FW how are they going to enforce the rules? - are they going to appoint a mobile rule enforcer to stop all the dodgy brown bags full of notes changing hands in service stations??! ;)
