A little light relief:

A German family head out one Saturday to do some shopping.
While in the sports shop the son picks up an England football shirt and
says to his sister, "I've decided to be an England supporter and I would
like this for my birthday."

His big sister is outraged by this and promptly whacks him round the
head and says, "Go talk to your mother." So off goes the little lad with the
white and red football shirt in hand and finds his mother. "Mum?" "Yes
son?" "I've decided I'm going to be an England supporter and I would
like this shirt for my birthday".

The mother is outraged at this, promptly whacks him around the head
twice and says, "Go talk to your father." Off he goes with the football shirt
in hand and finds his father. "Dad?" "Yes son?" "I've decided I'm going
to be an England supporter and I would like this shirt for my birthday."
The father is outraged and promptly whacks his son around the head 4
times and says: "No son of mine is ever going to be seen in THAT!"

About half an hour later they're all back in the car and heading towards
home the father turns to his son and says; "Son, I hope you've learned
something today?"

The son says, "Yes dad I have."
"Good son, what is it?"
The son replies,"I've only been an England supporter for an hour and already I hate you German $$$$$$$$s

To all ex-pats in Florida:

As you know tomorrow 4th July is "Thanksforgoing Day" - an important celebration of our heritage and proof that history deals some bad blows that can ulitimately prove to be decisively good. ( as proven again this weekend )

This year this date coincides with other World events and one particular outcome is the current surplus of English flags & bunting and other nationalistic tokens.

So we expect ex-pats in Florida to make a special effort this year. Please make sure that you have the required permit for each item displayed. Note however that the Flag of England requires only one permit - and not the three required for the Union Flag ( being deemed under local ordinances as 3 flags joined in combination.)

This year we are pleased to note that local business is joining in the celebrations - for example all Walmart clothing is to be branded "St George" for the day and in a moving reinactment at Starbucks tea bags will be thrown into a nearby model of Boston Harbour ( sponsored by Sam Adams & co.) To pick up the theme of Indians helping the original settlers all food from Harry Ramsbottoms will be served by Mr & Mrs Gupta Jinhindra. In addition Fat Willys Surf Shack will be the location for an small exhibition about the Plague in London and an explanation of why the absence of fast food was a lesser known reason for the exit of the Pilgrim Fathers.

Lastly please note that many of your neighbours will be resting today - in order to allow their participation in late night events planned for tomorrow. Please avoid disturbing them with your own preparations.
