View Full Version : The Gold and Ginger Gary Megson Army Bill McCai 03-07-2006, 13:19 How would you feel about ex WBA manager Gary Megson taking over at Molineux? paddingtonwolf 03-07-2006, 13:20 not happy. having said that, he would be at least passionate and attacking. Slip On Shoes 03-07-2006, 13:22 If he brings Hoddle back as his assistant and then Steve Claridge as coach then I'd be all for it. Malicious Steve 03-07-2006, 13:22 Its the Gingerchimpness I cant get over.... we could do worse than McCarthy....and Megson is one who would do worse Hibbitt was King 03-07-2006, 13:24 He won't even be considered. Bill McCai 03-07-2006, 13:24 It was quite obvious he couldn’t be appointed last time – but things have moved on since then. After an ill-fated spell at Nottingham Forest he is available again. I wouldn’t be surprised if it crossed Moxey's mind. brummywolf 03-07-2006, 13:27 If he hadn't completely $$$$ed up at Forest then I wouldn't have minded him coming here. I always felt he did a great job at Albion, especially bouncing back from relegation so quickly. But everything was in place for him to succeed at Forest: they were still getting 20,000+ fans every match and he was given a fair bit of money to spend- I'm sure he spent over 500k for Dobie and at least 100k on David Friio. Even players like Gareth Taylor- he should have got a lot more of out him at League 1 level. He completely lost the dressing room towards the end. I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. stuj4z 03-07-2006, 13:28 no no no. look how he failed dismally at forest, he is yesterdays man. yes he worked wonders with albion but that seems like a fluke. if he was considered then the crouds would not start picking up again. would be a big mistake Bill McCai 03-07-2006, 13:29 yes he worked wonders with albion but that seems like a fluke. if he was considered then the crouds would not start picking up again. He got promotion twice? EddieClamp-tops 03-07-2006, 13:32 It WAS a fluke at Albion when you look at his record before then - it was a big suprise when he was appointed by them because he had not been successful at that time. Bill McCai 03-07-2006, 13:36 He was only available because of the Icelandic takeover at Stoke? new end wolf 03-07-2006, 13:38 you'd have thought that his name will be on the short list, although considering the current relationship between wolves and their fans,it is probably too much of a risk for moxey and haywatd to take.if it went tits up with megson in charge it would be a massive disaster for them. the safer and more popular option is ince. RyanWolf 03-07-2006, 13:39 Realistically, the single worst appointment we could make. Visage Wolf 03-07-2006, 13:42 Realistically, the single worst appointment we could make. Are you sure? Worse than appointing Essex Wolf? Bill McCai 03-07-2006, 13:50 Gary Megson, it could be argued, was a better manager than Dave Jones ( the most successful of our recent incumbents ). When Albion got relegated they went straight back up. Had we been able to do that we wouldn’t be in the position we are now. Muscat 03-07-2006, 13:53 Was happy to have him before we gave Hoddle the job. Loads to prove now after his disastrous spell at Forest and we can do better. ProudWolf 03-07-2006, 14:00 not happy. having said that, he would be at least passionate and attacking. You sure you meant attacking?? I'd have to disagree there. Megson is a big NO, NO. paddingtonwolf 03-07-2006, 14:02 you're probably right. I should change it to " would grind out 1-0 instead of 0-0" Timberwolf 03-07-2006, 14:03 Smegs had his day in the sun, albeit a grimey $$$$ty sun over $$$$sville. Let him stay on the dole! Taffywolf 03-07-2006, 14:09 No way. I would be contacting the club for my money back for my season tickets if that happened.. John 03-07-2006, 14:10 Would rather Hoddle stayed, his football is more exciting Fickleasfolk 03-07-2006, 14:39 He was only available because of the Icelandic takeover at Stoke? Yes you are right. He was doing well at stoke, crowd loved him and the players,he was going a similar way to what he finally achieved at albion. Before that though Blackpool hated him and he was lucky to escape with his life:D Fickleasfolk 03-07-2006, 14:43 Firstly i'm not touting Megson for the job,ok!!!!!!! Just remembering the same being said of Bryan Robson before he took over at albion. We don't want him here, yesterday man, ruined Boro blah blah. How right and informed a lot of you were. SCB 03-07-2006, 14:45 If there ever was an apropriate moment, it must be this: I would scromit, Essex style  O.W.E.I 03-07-2006, 14:48 no No No No No No No No Grinder 03-07-2006, 14:53 Anyone's better than Hoddle. paddingtonwolf 03-07-2006, 14:56 barry fry?
