Ok, so at the end of last season it seems as though Jez wanted to sack Hoddle.
Then came the U turn.
Is it possible that the board agreed to the idea of sacking hoddle but the finances involved stopped that happening?? As a result have we played the old 'theres no money in the pot' card knowing that without a budget available Glenn would walk.
Obviously Lescott has been sold - and weve had a slow pre seaon in terms of signing players, but has the lack of activity been a ploy to frustrate hoddle and encourage him to walk away - and in doing so achieved the same as the sacking idea - but without the big payout?
now he's gone will we find some cash for our new manager that perhaps has been there all along?
in short - has moxey been doing a rope-a-dope on Hoddle....

I agree somewhat but then why is he trying to arrange to meet Hoddle to get him to comeback? Unless he is meeting to ensure Hoddle keeps his mouth shut?
Family commitments from Hoddle today as he has an interview in Sunderland?

well if the board have been duping hoddle into leaving then surley they would want to appear to do everything in there power to keep him.
I assume that they woould want to be seen as whiter than white...

If suddenly money appeared for a new manager then Hoddle could have a claim for constructive dismissal. Its a game.

If Moxey has been trying to force out Hoddle,it can be agued that he has been successful.I believe though that Hoddle has made it backfire spectaculary on Jez with the timing of his resignation.Moxey might have saved £500,000 in compo, but in reality he's left the club up $$$$$ Street.

In response to OGW:
exactly - but by appearing to do all they can to keep him by having the meeting which is happening this week, they could perhaps cover themselves for this eventuality - especially if jez mnentions the possibility of money being made available to him in the meeting.
If they mention the cash Glenn has no case - 'he was given a chance' would be the answer to any legal proceedings hoddle could take against the club.
Pure specualtion mind - its just a slow monday - and im just looking for a positive in all of this mess (apart from the big positive of no more glenn that is).

But surely he hasn't been dismissed, he resigned

Thats what constructive dismissal is - when your employers make your position untenable so you feel you have no choice but to leave.....

i'm not sure if he's left the club up $$$$ street. there's still 5 weeks to go before the new season starts and if they appoint ince and/or gray within the next 7 days its pretty much as you were but with no hoddle, which is what the majority of fans wanted anyway if this board is any indication.
