I have just seen that chopra is about to sign for cardiff for 200,000. I think we should be looking at players like him. He had a terrific record at reserve and youth level and the few times i saw him play for newcastle last year he looked a good player. I think we need to look at players like this, reading did and picked up harper and sidwell from arsenal cheaply and they have turned out to be good signings.

I agree that it's the kind of player that we should be after (i.e. youngsters who have talent but can't force their way into Premiership sides, and are available for a low fee), but Chopra looks absolutely dross from what I've seen. No pace, no strength.
I must be looking at the wrong player cuz he looked quiet fast when i saw him, and he does score goals. i am sure he was on loan at barnsley a while ago and scored about 20 goals

4 goals in 20 prem apps. Better than I thought.
maybe he needs to step out of shearers shadow to d well like beattie did. Not many big clubs in the premier tend to really push their good young talent, they seem to think the fans like big name signings.
I think he would be a good signing for just £200,000.
I'd rather sign Franny Jeffers though....

Jeffers=I think i'm good I want 20k a week.
Chopra= young, ambitious and still having something to prove. Just like what we are looking for.
thats spot on black & gold, we have to sign players who have something to prove.

Perhaps Cardiff have a manager who knows how to operate the transfer market when he knows the financial constraints placed on him.

Why? Just because someone once paid a lot of money for him doesn't mean he's any good.

Are you suggesting that Jones has the ability to sign good promising players but did not do this for us? Heavens to Betsy.

He agreed with the board to get promotion instantly, not build a team over 3 or 4 seasons to do it (which were the options he reportedly offered to the board at the time of his first pre-season). Instant push for promotion meant he couldn't afford to wait for promising players to develop

He had a terrific record at reserve and youth levelLeon Clarke had a fantastic reserve team record as well.
Signing players who are deemed not good enough for the premiership is always a risk. People use Sidwell etc as examples but there are loads of young players bought from prem clubs who all but dissapear.
The premiership recently held trial matches for players being released by these clubs, and I'm sure Wolves had scouts there, but I imagine the decent players there had plenty of clubs after them.
But surely spending 200k on a fringe prem player would have been better than 1 million plus on Frankowski, who didn't improve the team.

Didnt manage it though did he, his failure to push home the lead we had in his first full season is the reason we are in this mess...
If we had gone up with Man City - Lescott would have played in the Prem and Ince and Irwin would have been a year younger, we would have had a greater chance of staying up...

Because I saw him more than enough times for Everton to know that the lad has real natural talent. I think, providing he can stay away from injuries, he would be a terrific signing for us
i`m sure chopra has played at england u21 level, and he has been a success when h has been out on loan. I dont think clarke has had a really good goalscoring rate for the reserves, and he didnt do very well when he was on loan at kidderminster or plymouth. I dont really think there is much comparison between the two .

Maybe once he did, but he hasn't put in a decent performance for 5 years now, don't see how Hoddle is going to improve him.
