EVERTON will pay Wolves £5million to bring Joleon Lescott to Goodison Park today.
An initial outlay of £4million plus appearance-based add-ons for the central defender will take David Moyes's spending to £13.6m in the space of a week.
And after the £8.6m capture of Andy Johnson from Crystal Palace that broke the Goodison club's transfer record, the Everton manager has achieved his goal of securing his top targets well ahead of the club's pre-season training.
Lescott, who had a medical at Goodison yesterday, is untried at the top level having missed the entire season Wolves spent in the Premiership in 2003-04 when he was recovering from a knee operation.
But Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has sent his prize asset to the Premiership with a glowing reference.
He said: "We've never doubted that Joleon has got what it takes to be a real hit in the Premiership, and we believe we are getting a fair price for the player.

He's no more potentially at risk than any other player. He had an excellent injury record prior to 2003, and since coming back has carried that on, playing every single game this season, and all but two the year before that. Of course to those who can't look at facts, that equates to a terrible injury record, and a player who will break down at any second. :rolleyes:
