He's been outstanding apparently at the Blades , surely deserves a chance at centre back . He can't be recalled until Jan 1 but I'm sure PL will want to take a look at him before letting him go .

Got to be honest, he had a run over the last few seasons and I thought he looked decent, probably as a back up centre half.

There's an argument for me that he could come back and Iorfa and Hause could go out on loan. The only thing that would make me hesitant is he seems a bit injury prone and akin to Hause, you can expect the odd shocker here and there performance wise!

If I remember rightly he has a little habit of scoring the occasional goal too which is nice.

Don't think he has the ball skill.but he is a monster of a defender.cannot be any worse than we have here at the moment.I'm pretty sure Paul will want to see all the players before he chooses who to let go.

I think we need to forget Iorfa as a centre back his position is right back but for some reason he's stopped galloping forward like he used to. I think he's a shocking CB, his positioning is terrible and his distribution the same.

I have a good friend who's a season ticket holder at Bramhall Lane. He sent me a message a few weeks back at HT during the game EEL had scored a brace, saying how great he's been in general. Seems to me like a confidence player, and one who would definitely benefit from playing alongside someone experienced.

I said on another thread recently that he was looking better than Batth before he got his injury last season.

Problem with iorfa at right back is his touch is poor and the lad can't cross for the life of him.

Eel, great athlete but struggles with his concentration and decision making. Reminds me of Titus Bramble.

I want a more of a 7/10 defender at the back that are reliable and loud. He's neither of them. We can't use him till jan. Sell him as we only have 6 months left on his deal.

I also think that Lambert should have a close look at him in January before making any decision to sell him on.
In recent years we have let go too many players who have gone on to do well at their new club.

But we have also kept players to long that end up doing nothing.

Jake Cassidy is no longer in the football league.

True Dan but with players like Cassidy he was given a fair chance to show his worth before the correct decision was made to get rid of him.
I don't think he was kept too long.

It's difficult to know our best central defensive partnership. Lambert is no doubt chewing over this.

Not sure how much EEL has improved with his loan move but he's certainly been getting rave reviews. He has the potential and physical attributes to be better than Batth as a right-sided centre half but not sure whether he's there yet.

The safest and most experienced partnership would probably still be Stearman (left-sided) and Batth (right-sided) but I don't think we're any weaker or stronger if it's Hause-Batth, Stearman-EEL or even Hause-EEL

And that's not even mentioning Iorfa who still needs to find his best position, whether that be right back or right-sided centre back. Another one for Lambert!

I think EEL like Jacobs will rattle round looking good in a top six league one side and adequate in a bottom six Championship side.

No shame in that but not good enough for where we're aiming even in the short term when we'll be looking at cutting out daft mistakes and poor distribution he'd be much of a muchness. Mid term we'll surely sign further defenders in January. He'll make a decent career for himself akin to Leon Clarke just not here.

I don't think EEL is at a standard that we need. We really should be aiming higher, start spending some money on quality defenders. No room for sentiment, I honestly think the whole defence should be shipped out or used as back up. I can't believe how bad our defence has gotten over the last few years, this should be priority number one.
I can understand how some are looking to EEL as the answer or a stop gap answer but no...come on FOSUN start buying up some quality upper championship standard defenders.

Buying quality centre backs is like buying quality strikers, everybody wants one (two) and there are not many available.

They just don't grow on trees, and there are lots about that are a similar standard to what we have already. I'm not saying that EEL is better than what we have at the moment but I think he will have benefitted from the loan and will come back a better player than when he went. I'd be tempted to bring him back in January to have a close look at him, maybe in the FA Cup games, and if he was here now I'd be tempted to give him a run of games, maybe alongside Stearman, or maybe as part of a back 3.

Hopefully we will sign some better quality, but that may not be possible and so we may have to make the best of what we have.

Big and strong, still only 23, if he can improve his distribution (and at 23 that's on) then keep him.

As AndyY said, there seems to be a shortage of class central defenders.

EEL's also overcome the handicap of being born in West Bromwich :p

I've always thought EEL lacked the skill of Hause but was less prone to dropping a clanger. Plus he does possess a goal threat - that finish against Leyton Orient a couple of Christmas' ago was a peach.

Go for quality in January and stop mucking about. EEL has found his level and doing well there. Perhaps he can do a job for a lower half Champ team but is he a player you would see in a promotion chasing team? No.

Wallace did really well for Millwall, Evans did really well for Bradford, Byrne did really well for Swindon. I don't think we should read too much into EEL's success in League One.

I agree-it is a great shame that Williamson is not fit and probably won't be, because he would have been nailed on as one of our centre halves!

Defenders flourish a bit later though than midfielders they also get better with age. I honestly believe there is a good player in eel

EEL is obviously gaining confidence from a decent run of games. But let's be honest L1 is not a high standard and predominantly defenders are facing a direct style. This probably suits EEL because he simply has to 'win the header and then hoof it up the channel'. OK I am probably doing L1 a disservice in this but I'm not far from the truth.

From what I saw of EEL (and someone has already pointed it out) his decision making is really poor when he's faced with something other than the above.

From what a few people have said from Sheffield press, etc- it is very likely that he will sign for them permanently in January, unless Lambert has watched him and rates him highly and wants him back at Wolves as part of his plans. That would surprise me though.

Danny Batth and Richard Stearman were the centre-back partnership of the best defence in League 1 in 2013/14.

Clearly a big step up to the Championship.

EEL is decent and doing well at Sheff Utd by all accounts, but it shows how bad we have been defensively if some of us are looking to him as the possible answer. He was getting pelters last year. If I were him I wouldn't want anything to do with being a part of our current defence.

If Danny Batth, Iorfa and Hause dropped down to League One, they'd be outstanding too. EEL certainly fits the mould with the rest of our CBs. Error prone, won't make us any stronger.

I remember watching him in a game before he got injured. He was our biggest threat at set pieces on that occasion. Seemed a reasonable enough defender for us also though prone to the occasional mistake.

He's just another big lump of a player who struggles with anything around the leve we want to be at. No different from Wallace doing well at that level or the record amount of clean sheets Batth's kept in that league.

L1 is his level at the moment no better than what Wolves already have. Hause and Iorfa maybe good for the U21 but they cannot step up at the moment to championship standards.
IMHO Wolves need two good old fashion CB's and im afraid Batth and Stearman aren't it.

Sheffield Utd season ticket holder I know really rates him, maybe gained confidence by playing a run of games in a settled back 4 without wholesale changes being made each week, radical concept I know, but could work at the Mol, may be worth giving it a try.

Wolves had some "world beaters" in their L1 champions season but they couldnt make the step up to the championship. At the moment i think EEL is in this bracket.
