Might be load of tosh and he stays but heard rumblings he isn't happy with how his loan spell has gone and that his parent club are disappointed he hasn't played more games. Just snippets, comments and idle chat so it could all be utter rubbish but likewise no smoke without fire as they say.

Don't know about others but when he first signed I was pleased and thought the club had stolen a march on their rivals but from what I've seen I've by and large been very disappointed. Yes he's young and inexperienced but being honest and IMV I don't think he's that great and should he return to Man Utd won't be missed.

Of course he could return and be a superb player, winning lots of honurs and represent his country at the highest level but as a championship player he has struggled and looked weak, indecisive and lacking nous.

The lad's clearly got ability but not what we need at the moment being in a scrap. We do however need to buy a proper left back in January, I don't trust Doherty at all.

I would play him over doc, but would still be looking for better in Jan.

That's unless Roberto Carlos ikeme wants to switch positions.

I think he's a great future talent, but definitely not the right fit. It would have been different if we were in a comfortable position and able to sustain an attacking mindset, but it's too risky to start a 19-year old left back as you're falling down the table.

And knowing that Man United has explicitly stated that he has a future there, there is no reason to play him knowing he's not a future part of this squad.

I think he needs to drop down another level to learn his trade. The demands of the championship are tough and there are plenty of experienced quality wingers who will, and are giving him a torrid time with us. It really doesn't help his progression with our lack of stability with CH's and lack of leader but he is not what we need and we are not currently what he needs.

Hopefully and just maybe at long last the squad will contain more quality but be lower in terms of quantity.

Looks good & assured on the ball, technically very nice. I failed to see any of these deliveries he's very good at but he has a bit of a lackadaisical mindset for me, lacked a bit of drive, hunger & passion.

I'd say overall though the poor loan was down to us rather than him & I think he'll do reasonably well in the game.

Right player wrong time I'm afraid. We're carrying two youngsters as it is. We need experience!

Awful attitude on the pitch. Strolls around in a "I'm a Man Utd player, I'm too good for this" kind of way.
Could well become a very good player but no use to us at all at the moment.

United fans said how good he was! (Around good players) fact is he is no better than what we have, not been given a chance but it is what it is good luck to him and lets cut the squad size down

Yes I agree with you Essex, a nice tidy player but not a Championship full back for me and not what we need. PL seems to rate him in training but I don't think he thinks he's up to the job, which is a fair assessment imo.

Can't remember a future UTD player fail at this level. Doesn't bode well for him.

The difference requirements to play full back for man United and us in the championship. Ashley Young has played there for United.

That sums him up for me, very nice on the ball, going forward, nice athlete but not really up for it gritty and defensive work for championship football.

Not sure I agree with any of that Edge, he hasn't been helped by having a poor CB partner on his right side every game and he's had **** poor coaches to work with. I imagine it was a complete culture shock to the lad when he goes from the quality of Man Utd's back room staff to an inept bunch like ours.

I can not disagree re the CB to his right that has normally been Hause....enough said

Coaches - are our coaches really as poor as you have implied?

Those points do not provide an excuse for not using his talent and applying himself. He has not pulled up trees to win his place when given the opportunity and he needs to put in more effort in covering back, and not drifting in games

To say he's failed at this level is harsh. He's barely had a chance. In one of the few games he did start (Newcastle away) he had their winger in his back pocket and I said at the time he was my MoTM.

We do have two young defenders of our own however, and we can't afford to have three players < 21 in the team, they need experienced heads alongside them and I'd rather our own lads get the game time.

As BrummieNick said, just a case of right player, wrong time.

Good luck to the young man- sadly the loan move just wasnt really right for himself or for the club in the circumstances we have found ourselves. Well- intentioned no doubt but, like so much of our frantic last minute transfer activity, impulsive and ill- considered.

Hasn't had enough of a chance and is undeniably talented but at the same time wouldn't really be missed. I'd still like to see him given 4/5 games in a row and see how he gets on.

You can absolutely see there is a good player in there, he has all the attributes to go to the very top. Unfortunately wrong move for him, he was put into an already inexperienced defence and it showed. He showed glimpses of the player he is (he was excellent in his first home game and also Newcastle away).

Same as I think with Iorfa, not necessarily lazy but dwell on the ball a bit. Whether thats a confidence thing for both of them or not is a different matter.

Hasn't really had a run in the team there was an argument for him having should when Doherty was really poor for a few games. Hopefully Doherty does start to get back to that player from last season. In all fairness he seemed to play like a free roam role against QPR.

Genuine question, not a snide one...

Who was the last decent full back to be brought through the united ranks, foreign or otherwise?

I think there was one particular moment which summed him up. Forget which game it was now but he was attempting to shield the ball out for a goal kick and was dispossessed by the attacking player who crossed it and we very nearly conceded. DB called him out but he seemed to be arguing the point instead of accepting responsibility. Right there he was showing his inexperience and it was clear he wasn't right for us.

I think his basic defending is woeful, positioning he's terrible and backs off his winger to the point where he actually rarely even puts a challenge in. In a recent game he literally backed off all the way from midway in our half right the way into the box and still didn't attempt a tackle. Good on the ball though and technically ok.

Shame he had the perfect game at Newcastle and thought he'd go on an cement his place in the side. Suffered from all the swapping and changing and never got back to that level.
