Just as the USA is the biggest (only ?) backer of Israel. But this is not the place for such a discussion.Iran were the biggest backers of Hamas

I went to the US regularly between the mid-80s and mid-2010s for both work and leisure. I loved it (although being asked if l was Australian and/or someone saying that l spoke great English for a European got more than a little tedious). However, l have not the slightest desire to go to Trumpistan, either to watch the Would Cup or for any other reason. The fact that Tango Man got elected twice makes me wonder about the US populace.I live here and I won't be going to the games because of the ridiculous pricing. I don't think we even deserve to host games in the first place but that's another conversation. But safe travels to anyone making the trip
I’m going to try and get to one of the games after my trip to vegasI went to the US regularly between the mid-80s and mid-2010s for both work and leisure. Sadly my African younger OH has both relatives and friends in the States so is desperate to go.... I fear her paying a load of money only to get refused entry.
We don’t always see eye to eye but I totally agree with your first paragraph.I went to the US regularly between the mid-80s and mid-2010s for both work and leisure. Have you seen any opening ceremony of a World Cup in 30 years?I just can't stand the thought of all the ****ing US razzamataz, clear blue skies and glitz and beaming blond girls twirling sticks in red white and blue costumes kicking their legs in the air and with their white, gleaming teeth proclaiming how great America is to the sound of New Orleans jazz bands and Trump and Infantino beaming over the proceedings bestowing their blessings on one and all. It has about as much to do with football as I have to do with ballet!
Right, it used to be not so bad. I'm not saying we've ever been the pinnacle of human decency or anything, but it didn't used to be like this. Trump is the ugliest stain we can't get rid of.I went to the US regularly between the mid-80s and mid-2010s for both work and leisure. Sadly over the roughly 30 years you could see things getting worse. Even working for the UK Government and having a one-step down from diplomatic visa l still got some grief, particularly over the Havana entry and exit stamps....Right, it used to be not so bad. I fear for anyone traveling here, it's going to be rigorous and stressful, not to mention expensive.
If you're ever there and get the opportunity again, wait until the night before, or if possible the morning of a game. For most teams, especially the likes of the Raiders, Chargers, Rams, who are in places away from their traditional fan base, loads of tickets become available for cheap on game days on reseller sites. I have many friends in California who only buy Chargers tickets on game day, and normally cheaper than face value (around $30-$50 for $200 tickets). Same with some Raiders fans I know. They travel to Vegas from California the day before and buy cheap tickets on game day. The only time it tends not to work is when it's against a team with a huge fan base (e.g. Bills, Eagles etc ).Re the prices this is less of a “World Cup” thing and more of a “American Leisure” thing. They really get into the supply and demand experience unfortunately. I was in Vegas in November and tried to get Raiders tickets, cheapest were 350 dollars and were singles dotted around, two together were 500 dollars each. Same with concert tickets, in fact I think generally it’s an expensive country nowadays especially as the pound is so weak against the dollar. It’s been a long old time since it was 2 dollars to the pound
It’s not just the states though……prices for any big event, concerts, merchandise, food/drinks, parking have all gone up beyond the price of living raises/inflation.If you're ever there and get the opportunity again, wait until the night before, or if possible the morning of a game. You are right about face value tickets now though. When I lived in San Diego in the mid 90s to 2000, standard face value tickets were about $15 to $25 in the upper tier, to see the Chargers now, the cheapest face value tickets are around $180.
Just as well, because if it weren't, there would not be a Jew left alive today.Just as the USA is the biggest (only ?) backer of Israel. But this is not the place for such a discussion.
I actually tried for three weeks before and also the week I was there (including the day) prices never moved. I was told the prices for vegas games rarely moves as they sell out with tourist away fans coinciding it with a weekend in Sin CityIf you're ever there and get the opportunity again, wait until the night before, or if possible the morning of a game. I'm not thinking of the opening ceremony; I'm thinking every bloody game. Stars and stripes, red, white and blue, the orange one. The thought of all of it makes me feel sick.Have you seen any opening ceremony of a World Cup in 30 years?
At least they dont have those infernal vuvuzelas.I'm not thinking of the opening ceremony; I'm thinking every bloody game. Stars and stripes, red, white and blue, the orange one. The thought of all of it makes me feel sick.
As one of the guilty parties l apologise, at least in part. The trouble is that it's sometimes difficult to separate them. The World Club Cup final was one great example. The 1930s when Stan Cullis made a principled and heroic stand was another. You all know not to post the politics in the football section. So why do it?
I take no umbrage but would you like me to go back and find the thing that I read? It was on England Supporters Travel Club on Facebook if I remember correctly. No disrespect but that seemed so high I had googled it.
Seems prices start at $40 and can be over $100+ depending on the event, proximity and demand etc.
Other off sites are can start at .$20
Last World Cup was a fantastic tournament, you made a mistake not watching.Didn't watch the last one, won't watch this one, and every day that passes I'm more convinced I've made the right decision on both counts.
I'm sure the families of the workers who died building the thing were delighted.Last World Cup was a fantastic tournament, you made a mistake not watching.
I apologize as well, I got carried away. You all know not to post the politics in the football section. So why do it?
I don’t doubt your memory at all or what you saw/read. Maybe for the WC they’ll get the prices you mentioned.I take no umbrage but would you like me to go back and find the thing that I read? It was on England Supporters Travel Club on Facebook if I remember correctly.
Really? Where did you see this? I remember Edmonton didn’t want the WC…….anything changed that I missed?Just a reminder that the games are co-hosted and as we speak FIFA is quietly making inquiries about Canada hosting more games.
There are decent stadiums in Edmonton, Montreal and Winnipeg that might be available (CFL games aside).
And that's before Iran decides whether to send their team and Mexican cartels agree to keep away from WC matches.
I didn’t watch either for very good and noble reasons.Last World Cup was a fantastic tournament, you made a mistake not watching.
Two words. Berti. Vogts. At least an Italian is managing Italy not like the embarrassment of a German managing England.

I might try for a game. LA will be closest for me at 6 hours drive. I hoped Phoenix would get a game but alas no, but the set up will be great at games so it will be a lot of fun and the US will add its own brand of party to things.
It is difficult as football has brought politics into it with the ridiculous award to Chump and politics often brings football into it as politicians think it's trendy and vote winning.although a difficult thing, please try and keep to the football side of this and not the politics.
The only football i care about is Wolves and Fosun have gone a long way to curing me of that in the last 5 years.Didn't watch the last one, won't watch this one, and every day that passes I'm more convinced I've made the right decision on both counts.

The FIFA peace prize, Iran not taking part, ICE making it unsafe for certain ethnic groups. No I agree, I can't see the crossover myself. You all know not to post the politics in the football section. So why do it?
