Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

There a lot of discussion on other threads about what should happen in the summer. Might as well gather it all together here?

No doubt we will be the richest club in the Championship next year.

Are Edwards / Jackson up to it or will
they blow this final chance?

Will they still be here?

Will Fosun back them or will we re-sign Dion Sanderson?

A major clearout is needed for high earners and those unlikely to stay for a Championship campaign.

Priorities
• Goalkeepers: Total refresh needed (2 or 3 new signings). We need calm heads.

• Defense: At least two new RBs and one quality CH. Current LBs should hold up a division down. I hope Lima stays. Jackson has to go. We need leadership.

• Midfield: Minimum of two new CMs, depending on who returns from loan. Assuming Joao, Andre and JRB will go. We need creativity.

• Attack: A massive job. We need multiple permanent wingers and at least one new striker to lead the line. We need pace.

His journey with us is over. He was on generally, if a bit flaky and high maintenance.

• #2 Matt Doherty – Defender (Vice-captain)

This is the time for Matt to become Shrewsbury player manager. Great servant.

• #3 Hugo Bueno – Defender

Should stay, but might get better offers.

• #4 Santiago Bueno – Defender

Definitely should stay, but will
probably go to Getafe.

• #5 Marshall Munetsi – Midfielder (On loan at Paris FC)

Never want to see him again, probably won’t.

I think he will be good in the championship, but again will probably get better offers.

Feels like I've done a quantum leap back to the 1990's and it did us no favours then. I don't think for one minute Fosun appreciate the size of the task ahead of them, or if they even care for that matter.

We won't be signing any Neves, Jota, Boly types, that's for sure. The ambition of the club then meant we effectively built a Premier league team in the Championship. This time, the ambition of the club now means we've built a Championship team in the Premier league.

Bit harsh mate, most of them subs are starters in the championship. No point buying Armstrong to put him on the bench for a start. Tolu is too expensive to be a sub. I love Rodrigo so hope he's getting lots of minutes. Santi is easily good enough for the championship. Lima too actually.

Add a decent goalkeeper to these players and that’s a very strong championship team. Add a few bold signings and a couple of returning loans like Doyle and it’s a very decent squad, especially if they knuckle down and play for each other and they have a manager with some nous.

I think Andre will be one of those who flourishes in a proper football team with players above lower end championship standards. He was coveted by Juve last summer.

I completely agree and had been banging the drum about how badly we were run and organised for some time…..

Keeping the current team together below Nathan, seems like a clear continuation of poorly skilled and low ability people in key strategic roles.

Sooner Fosun sell up and go away the better! Only three good years in 10.

Added to where we are now from two seventh placed finishes and the speed of the decline shows just how poor Fosun have been!!!!
