Shrewsbury Verdict

I was worried he'd gone far too defensive but his tactic of bypassing the midfield and going back to front quickly worked well and a really poor opposition couldn't cope when we had some really good angles and movement off the ball. Nice to be proved wrong in this case. Played some really lovely football at times and you could certainly see how Edwards and his team had planned this.

Mentally we switched off at 2-0 up for 15 minutes and it shows that we aren't particularly good with our concentration as a team and squad but it's a huge improvement from what we were in November and the second half was excellent. I wasn't enamoured with Mane coming on as I thought it was an unnecessary risk, especially when the thug went straight through him.

But so pleased for Roddy and Fer who looked like they really enjoyed themselves.

Did the job and in some style.
Agree about Mane. The game was won, why take a risk against a limited team of cloggers? We got away with it.

Yes RE took a needless risk giving him game time, their are always cloggers out their looking to enhance there reputation, no I,m a thick old ********** and never now how to use their or there.. but you all know what i mean. I liked the look of our under 23's ;) that were on at the end promising for next season.

Oh for Gods sake give it a rest. “RE took a risk” saying this while hand wringing no doubt.

Just enjoy the win.

There were young fans at that game who wanted to see him and they did !!

Its not the hope but the joy that kills some of you.
Yeah my lad was in that category, he was pleased when he came on.

On reflection the best thing about yesterday’s game was, ball in the net, quick glance at the lino, goal confirmed, celebration could begin.

Watching football without VAR feels so liberating.
I didn't celebrate the first goal as with my naked eye I thought Hwang may have been offside so was waiting for the purple screen of doom, then remembered there was no VAR and each goal afterwards was great to celebrate knowing that there would be no intervention

Reopens that big question , is it better to see a few home wins a year in Te Premier League or win easily at a lower level .
Better to be in the Premier League, even better to be in the top 10 teams.

Yeah felt the same, most of the goals looked like there was potential for tight off sides to look at, but no lino flag down off we go, like the old days. The officials were bang on with everything to be fair, let the game flow.

Come on its 2026, they are all professionals they aren't going out there to try and injure young kids. Mane has very little first team football under his belt, was the ideal time to give him a few more minutes against tired legs and keep his confidence high.

As you can see with Palace, you have to turn up and do the job. And we did. Be professional and your extra quality will get you through, which is exactly what happened.

Said it earlier but I think Arias was the difference, someone to carry the ball and run into the box, created some real chances. No one played badly really apart from maybe Jackson.

Can’t quite get over how bad Shrewsbury were. Usually when you play lower league side they’re at least organised, hard working. Shrewsbury looked unfit, badly coached, lazy. Dreadful.

Lots of youngsters round by me enjoying their first games, hopefully they’ve got the bug! It’s not like this every week though!

Great to be in the next round.
£15 for adults, £5 for kids, families could afford to go £40 for a family of four. Compare that with Premier League prices, £98 vs Burnley in worse seats, it’s harder to justify. Unfortunately the horse has bolted, but Premier League football is a rip off.

If we win easily at a lower level it just brings us back to the higher level
I suppose if you like one season of winning loads of games then League 1 it is lol

The biggest plus for me was Rodders scoring. Him and Lima as wing backs next season ?
Rodrigo and Lima were the shining lights on the US pre-season tour in July/Aug 2024. GON used them on the tour and then they basically got given the cold shoulder. Still thinking about the link up play for Rodrigo's goal v West Ham in Jacksonville.

at 4:15..
