Shrewsbury Verdict

Can't overstate just how bad Shrewsbury are. Wasn't that long ago they were pushing for promotion to the championship.

Enjoyable game though, dominant from the off.

Don’t want to upset anyone, but Edwards has been very positive about JSL in his press conferences, praising his attitude and effort. Pretty sure Edwards doesn’t wanna sell him, I thought they might not cup-tie him tbh. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t go in Jan.
I would not be surprised if JSL is still here at the end of January. A club may well make a bid that we accept but it may not be a club he wants.

He’ll likely have more clubs interested in the summer, so he can hold out.

I’m about as far from a tactical expert and analyst of the game as you can get but I thought to myself as I was watching our general movement and patterns of play when attacking today, if we played like this against 60-70% of the team in our league we would get results. Some of the runs, decoys and through balls would have worked against anyone. If anythin comes out of today I hope rob really drills home that we do have some ability, we need to pair it with a bit more belief.

What burnt bridges?
He scores, we’re all happy. He doesn’t, and we’re not. I’m sure he’s adult enough to know that’s how the footy world works.
Being booed / applauded when taken off, being given pelters after he 'applauded' the South Bank, and all the *******s around the JV aggro with the South Bank.

I think we're both living in Sheffield; have you seen our fans' relationship with him of late? It's been sour at best, poisonous at times. The lads round me have been on his back at any given opportunity.

The bridges have been burnt. He went off without clapping us in the South Bank. And to be honest, I don't blame him.

They're on the verge of relegation from the football league.

I wasn’t there today but I’m a season ticket holder. Granted I didn’t see him clap the South Bank from the telly pictures, but he did clap the crowd. I’m not saying he hasn’t got the hump but he looked genuinely pleased with the applause of appreciation.
He must realise how **** he’s been, he’s not daft.
Where in Sheffield are you? I’m in Woodseats. Soon to be moving to Broomhill.

So which is it?

He got a stand ovation or not?

He clapped the south bank or not?

As for bridges burnt, as usual the vocal minority seem to think they represent the majority when they don’t.
Well I can only tell you what I saw, from the South Bank. He got a standing aviation. But he walked off after scoring a hat trick without acknowledging our home end. Then at the end of the game, he came out and did the clapping thing they do now.

He did, but on this occasion I'm giving him more credit than us.

Gleadless Valley (rough as arses), but lived in Broomhill for a bit. The Broomhill Tavern is a lovely little pub, and a good place to watch the telly games.

Albion at home next......... Burton !!! Lets get an easy ride to Wembley to cap off a miserably season.

From what I saw he walked off the pitch and started a general clap when he was about to go off by the bench

Lol…I quite like Gleadless Valley. My first job after Uni was at Gleadless Townend, and first house was in Heeley.
Do you ever venture in to Woodseats? Big Tree is my local. True Blade pub but they’ve got used to me.
Anyway, I hope bridges haven’t been burned with JSL. There’s a lot of healing that needs to happen at Molineux and I hope we’re at the start of it.

You're going to my old haunt now? I'm eccleshall road way on the part out of Shef these days.

Anyway, good win that. Be interesting to see how we perform in the next 3 league games.

Really enjoyed the game (obviously, it is hard not to enjoy a 6-1 win no matter who you are playing!). Very professional performance and SOME reason to look forward to next season with really good young players like Rodrigo, Lopez, Mane and Lima to hopefully sprinkle some experience around.

Over the last six months I’ve bid for three houses around Botanical Gardens, but got outbid on sealed bids every time. There might be a lesson there for me not to be so tight. So, I had to widen my search and now about to exchange on a house on Marlborough Road. Still went to sealed bids though. And people say the property market is in the doldrums. Not here it isn’t!

I'm beginning to wonder if we really do have a squad of League 1 and Championship players after all. The gap looked like 3 divisons today.

The Korean Guy is back!
That’s what our defence shout!

Then they tell him to **** off up front and stop passing in his own half!

Seriously, he had a tidy game today an assist both ends and decent movement. I kinda want him to do well to get him into some kind of groove! He likes scoring against Newcastle iirc so there is hope!

I hope so too, he's not blameless (some half-hearted performances, the VP in front of the South Bank carry on, etc.) but he's a decent number nine, a nice lad, and should get us a few bob when we inevitably go down.

We're off Abney Road, and I love walking down through the (certified ancient) woods opposite, up round the golf course and over to Woodseats. Start at the pub with the crown green bowls, then the Big Tree, then Spoons or the Chantrey. Then up through Heeley and home.

Was hoping for Boro but they imploded in the 2nd half against Fulham. WBA away again please!
My missus' family are Boro, so I'm happy to dodge that. The **** at home, or a rubbish team again at home please.

Job done in a no win situation for us imo. Brilliant for the confidence though and keeps the ball rolling.

We are technically a Premier League team, and they are very close to being relegated out of the Football League.

However, given the season we're having, we could have easily got caught out. Look at what's happened to Palace, and to some extent Forest (although that's nowhere near as tragic) - well done to the players for actually going for it and not taking it easy and assuming a win would come.

A very good result and performance. I know we'll play Stoke twice next season anyway, but for my own personal sake, Stoke or Vale in the next round please. Preferably away.

Exactly this. The manager needs to hammer into him that he can try all the fancy flicks he likes in the other half, but *never* in our half. In our half, play it safe, like everyone else does. He set up the move for our second goal by a flick that finds JSL in space. Fine in their half (especially when most of our attackers play it dar too safe), but he should never take risks in our half.
