This maybe 2 hours after the final whistle (very slow walk on the ice on the way back partially to blame) but might as well open one on the back of a very satisfying performance.

An extremely professional job done this afternoon and the first time since Rotherham United in 2014 we scored six in a competitive fixture.

Well done to Jorgen for his Hattrick, it was a nice finish by Jhon, it’s great to have Rodrigo back and instantly scoring and a first in four weeks for Tolu topped it off.

And of course huge shout to Mateus, for THAT beautiful outside of the boot ball which contributed to our sixth!

Jorgen’s three is also the first FA Cup Hattrick for a Wolves player since Steve Bull in 1987.

And the gate of 24,258 is probably far, far bigger than initially expected.

This is what taking The FA Cup seriously is all about and here’s to Monday night’s Round 4 draw.

I know it was only Shrewsbury but we’ve done well to avoid what could have been an upset. Just shows what quick, incisive pass in the final 3rd can achieve. Mane not on for long but never mind his ability I really admire his work rate. If he loses it he makes sure he tries to retrieve it. Best thing for me though is the smiles on the players faces, enjoying it again. Confidence has been low but games like this will certainly help matters.

Great minds mate, just did one too! You just beat me to it! LOL!

Tiny Gripes first -
  • Hwang decent assist…for both teams! Few decent touches but holding us back imo.
  • Jackson just bad! Very bad!
Pro’s -
  • JSL three neat finishes and hopefully a confidence boost
  • Love the midfield 3 of Andre in the anchor and Pitbull/Arias as 8’s. Been hoping to see this for a while!
  • Wolfe solid and good assist for Tolu
  • Roddy getting minutes, a goal and that smile!! Infectious and knows how to sniff our chances.
  • Tolu getting his goal.
  • Seeing Lopez, Mane and Roddy on the pitch at the same time!
  • Lopez with 1 defence splitting pass, 50 yard ping, hits the post and great trick in box to Arias and all in 20 mins!!
  • Lima getting on pitch again
Overall, comfortable game, 6 goals!!…and looks like RE/Rui have found the formation for us. We suddenly look balanced, organised and like a team again!
Weirdly I actually enjoyed the last 20 mins more than the previous 70. Mane, Lopez, Roddy and Lima all on the pitch and movement all round, pace and creativity. Yes it’s Shrewsbury but this system works and we suddenly seem to have decent options I every position all over the pitch.
Roddy or Lima in for Jackson and Lopez in for Hwang moving forward and we may just actually enjoy the second half of the season!

We scored 6!!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon despite the treacherous pavements.

Massive gulf in class though, but good to see the lads playing with confidence throughout the side. Thought they were all good, first XI and subs, creates a bit of depth in the squad and gives Edwards some options.

Was good to see Edwards vindicated for sticking to the shape and keeping the quality of the side high.

Our 3rd goal was a killer for them, sleepless night for their keeper ahead!!

Anybody seen the post on Wolves Facebook of the players at the final whistle?…. Andre looks upset and almost as if he’s consoled by Trollope…
Could be wrong but looks visibly emotional to me.

Like a training game, easy as it gets but who cares, after so much misery at Molineux it was nice to see us score a few goals. Shrewsbury were no kind of match at all. Great to see a hat-trick for JSL, Mane was excellent when he came on and good for Rodrigo Gomes to score on his return though not the brace that the announcer announced! Felt sorry for their keeper (only 19) maybe the biggest game he will play in and commits a howler, nice touch that JSL went over to him after he had celebrated

I was worried he'd gone far too defensive but his tactic of bypassing the midfield and going back to front quickly worked well and a really poor opposition couldn't cope when we had some really good angles and movement off the ball. Nice to be proved wrong in this case. Played some really lovely football at times and you could certainly see how Edwards and his team had planned this.

Mentally we switched off at 2-0 up for 15 minutes and it shows that we aren't particularly good with our concentration as a team and squad but it's a huge improvement from what we were in November and the second half was excellent. I wasn't enamoured with Mane coming on as I thought it was an unnecessary risk, especially when the thug went straight through him.

But so pleased for Roddy and Fer who looked like they really enjoyed themselves.

Did the job and in some style.

Seemed ok to me. He is never that animated anyway.

And JSL acknowledged his impressive save later. He's a good lad is Jorgen, it's a shame we've burned our bridges with him by unfairly going after him for the sort of stuff any modern player would do in a struggling side.

Who do we want in the 4th round? Another home game against **** opposition please.

Don’t want to upset anyone, but Edwards has been very positive about JSL in his press conferences, praising his attitude and effort. Pretty sure Edwards doesn’t wanna sell him, I thought they might not cup-tie him tbh. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t go in Jan.

Was hoping for Boro but they imploded in the 2nd half against Fulham. WBA away again please!

Pretty sure I attended us beating Shrewsbury 6-1 in the league cup when I was a lad.

Funnily enough, just read a post match interview where he speaks of his fondness for the fans and how he understands the stick he has received recently

Professional job. When they got the penalty the Wolves of 4 weeks ago would of capitulated. But we stuck to the gameplay. We seemed to have more purpose with the ball.

Goals aside as I said in motm thread, thought Andre was mother was everywhere. Dictated the play from the middle and more obvious when Gomes went off.

Nice to see R Gomes back, Lopez and Lima given minutes.

Jackson did attempt to take his man on a few times and when he did he created something. Part of me is thinking do they give him the ball to high up the pitch to use his pace properly? Maybe clutching.

Glad to see Larsen get his goals too. Arias had a good game and was involved a lot, I want to see him run people too. Seems our right side are scared to do that.

Overall nice day out. That pass from Mane for the 6th was a thing of beauty.

Interesting point about JSL now being cup tied, hadn't thought of that. Hope he stays for the rest of the season

I do wonder if the coaching staff will get stuck into Jackson and get him taking his man on, he definitely did more of it today.

He needs to be taught the Matt Jarvis, shimmy, knock and run
Lot of balls slid in for him behind their full back today too, I don’t think the coaching staff have given up on him yet, and Lima looked comfortable there too, and Rodrigo an option, it’s all looking a little better, after we’ve been very left sided recently.

Can play for two teams in the FA cup now

Will be a few tough decisions for RE when picking the team next week.

We played some really nice stuff today
Ok Shrews were awful but you can only play whats there
Took our goals well some really nice movement and some clinical finishing for once
You can see how much more confident the players are compared to a few weeks back
Lets hope it continues in the league
We know we are down, but a few more wins this season will make it a little less painful
20 odd points seems much more likely than not making 11 now

I just read the article on the transfer thread, doesn't it just mean a player who played in the qualifying rounds with a non league team can transfer and play for someone else?

Now, players are able to play for two clubs in the FA Cup during the same season. Players who feature in the qualifying rounds for non-league clubs can represent another team in the competition proper. The latter stipulations for the preliminary rounds are not relevant to Premier League clubs.

Why, does the coach make that decision or the owners?
Big offer comes in and he's on his way imo.

Didn’t fancy us before kick off, glad to be wrong!

Andre looked better when Joao was withdrawn. I do think he slows our play too much sometimes and our movement improved when he went off and Arias dropped in there with Mane ahead of them.

Gomes was lively and Tolu did what he’s there to do and got his goal.

Town look a poor team but you can only beat what’s in front of you. We did that and I said after WHU that get something from Everton and into the fourth round would be a good weeks work.

RPS seems to be making a difference and every manager needs a good number two.
Newcastle next week… tough game.

I’d pick the same team as Everton second half personally, maybe with Gomes coming in for Jackson who I have to say is possibly the worst player I’ve seen in a Wolves shirt in a while.

I’d like us to try and pick up a better RB/RWB this window plus a creative midfielder if we can at least.

Let’s enjoy today and hope we put in a performance next Sunday.

COYW!

What burnt bridges?
He scores, we’re all happy. He doesn’t, and we’re not. I’m sure he’s adult enough to know that’s how the footy world works.

As you can see with Palace, you have to turn up and do the job. And we did. Be professional and your extra quality will get you through, which is exactly what happened.

Said it earlier but I think Arias was the difference, someone to carry the ball and run into the box, created some real chances. No one played badly really apart from maybe Jackson.

Can’t quite get over how bad Shrewsbury were. Usually when you play lower league side they’re at least organised, hard working. Shrewsbury looked unfit, badly coached, lazy. Dreadful.

Lots of youngsters round by me enjoying their first games, hopefully they’ve got the bug! It’s not like this every week though!

Great to be in the next round.

Job done and then some! I know it was only the fugazi sheep staggers but to score 6 goals was totally unexpected. No doubt who was MotM, JSL showing what he is capable of, even if it was a L2 side, a hattrick and a couple of nice finishes in there with his first and third goals. Minor scare with them scoring a penalty, another nightmare loss of possession from Hwang in the lead-up but overall he too had a decent game. Some lovely cameos at the end from Mane, Fer Lopez, Tolu and Rodrigo, great to see his trademark ear to ear smile again after his goal. We are all smiling today. A rare occurrence on matchdays this season. Another easy home tie please. A decent cup run would be a much deserved distraction for us suffering fans!

Took my youngest to his first game today. He said it was boring because he wanted to see more goals!
Also disappointed the orange chip shop was closed.

Anyway lovely ruthless display. Even from the off you could see we were up for it with a bit of urgency. Shrewsbury very very poor though. 4 unbeaten, keep it up.
