Protests

What a load of dross on this thread. I will certainly not be protesting, and will continue to watch WWFC at every opportunity I get.
The squad is probably far better than most on here are admitting. At first sight it is clear that several newcomers will need a little acclimatisation time (Arias, Wolfe, Tchatchoua), although already we have seen glimpses of class. That will improve steadily as the season progresses. Krejci and Arokodare are completely unknown to me, but they have good track records elsewhere, so I am very hopeful of them. Lopez is real class and will I think be a huge asset after a few games. Add to that the previous team survivors ...Andre, Larsen, J Gomes, Agbo, Sa, Doherty...and there is a solid feel to the team. So, all in all, I reckon the squad is plenty good enough for survival, and possibly better.

My real fear though is VP. Given time and patience I have absolutely no doubt that he can pull things together, but already I am seeing signs on these pages that the fans are turning...it was ever thus. Collectively the "fans" never did have patience.

Anyway, I am relaxed, and believe that THIS TEAM WILL NOT BE RELEGATED.

Fair cop...my final conclusion was wrong. But most of my post was - or could have been - very correct.

Arias...was improving in each of his last three/four games (and I think would have continued the trend imo) before being sold. Poor sale decision I reckon. Could have been worth a few more points maybe.
Wolfe...has shown some improvement, but not given much opportunity. Could be a real asset in the Championship.
Tchatchoua... Mmmm. A disappointment, but could be OK next season. We could do better though.
Krejci...coming good. Decent player, captain material. Will do well next season (if we can keep him).
Arokodare...probably not quite at PL level, but vey like Woods or Matete a few years ago. Could be useful next season.
Lopez...Real class. I very much hope we can keep him. Not sure that a loan move was right for him (or us). Again perhaps would have been worth a couple more points handled differently.
Andre, Larsen, J Gomes, Agbo, Sa, Doherty...all solid in my opinion. I would not have sold Agbo, but agree that with the money offered a move for Larsen was correct.
VP...we'll never know if we could have survived if he had stayed, perhaps not. But once the fans turned on him he had no chance. I fear that much the same may happen (yet again) with RE.

You will not agree with much of this...but San Fairy Ann. :)

I agree with a lot of that. Would VP have kept us up ? Would GON. We will never know because our fans turned on them. Now it's happening with Edwards.
We can't keep chopping and changing managers. I just about trust Edwards to get the signings right over the summer. Then it's up to him.

Up early with the birds this morning ay Rob? :)

View attachment 59403No wonder they continue to take the **** out of us when they've gotten away with so much for so long.
I suspect we'll see this screenshot a lot in the weeks ahead. It's not pretty, but I think it deserves some thought. One point I think is that it includes the early sales of Cunha and RAN last Summer, but none of the purchases.

I think the lesson from November and December is obvious: Fosun are far more sensitive to visible protest than many people assumed.

For years we were told Wolves fans were too apathetic to protest, and that Fosun would just ignore it anyway. Then we protested, and Jeff Shi was removed from operational control almost immediately. That does not look like protest being ignored. It looks like protest working.

The problem is that the change has stopped halfway.

Jeff Shi may no longer be the public face of the football operation, and Nathan Shi may be a better communicator, but what has actually changed in the football architecture? Rob Edwards was a Jeff Shi appointment. Matt Jackson remains central despite having a significant role in the recruitment and squad-planning mess that has helped put us in this position.

Edwards might be a good coach. He might even become a good manager. But where is the evidence that he has the experience to rebuild a broken Premier League squad after relegation? That is not a minor job. It is not a development project. It requires judgement, authority, recruitment alignment, and a clear football strategy. We appear to be asking a relatively inexperienced manager to lead a rebuild he has never done before.

Jackson is the bigger issue. He was already in the building while the squad deteriorated. He was part of the structure when the mistakes were being made. If the people responsible for the shambles are still being trusted to fix the shambles, then we are entitled to ask whether anything meaningful has changed at all.

That is why I think protests should resume — not aimlessly, and not just as anger for anger’s sake, but with a clear demand: change the football architecture.

Remove the failed decision-making structure. Bring in proven football leadership. Clarify who is accountable for recruitment, squad planning and performance. Stop pretending that better communication is the same as reform.

The previous protests worked because they made the problem visible. If we now let the pressure drop, Fosun will probably conclude that removing Jeff from view was enough. It wasn’t.

The message should be simple: Nathan’s words are welcome, but words are not a rebuild. Until the football structure changes, the protest should continue.
