Protests

What happened to bringing banners into the stands? Remember "You've let us down again"?

I would say so, but I can not speak about other people. If the public and football pundits can identify why we have a problem, it could encourage Fosun to sell up or back the club, but I have not heard any pundits say we had a good window.

Asset stripping and burning money, along with some incredibly slow and poor decisions, have led to this.

Is any Wolves fan happy right now? Why are they unhappy? Then it all comes out.
While i agree Fosun have massively messed up this season, i really dont get where they are asset strippers
Ive seen this several times over the last few months, but no one can tell me what they mean by it
They have sold players and bought players for roughly same amount, the quality can be argued but the facts are there
They do invest every season, again you can argue about if they do it correctly ,but again the facts are there
If you can show me any example of asset stripping id be more than grateful, as i just cant see it at all

If you need to ask this, it doesn’t matter what I respond with as you won’t find it valid.
It’s just that, if you’re going to protest there needs to be a theme that is valid and has some substance. Just because our results and performances have been dreadful, it doesn’t all come down to Jeff and Fosun.

I’m not defending Jeff, but, he doesn’t do the scouting, he doesn’t take the training sessions, decide the tactics, or pick the starting 11. I don’t believe the players we’ve brought in, are that bad.

Plenty criticised Semedo and admitted it took him a few seasons before we saw the best of him, and even then, he wasn’t a world beater. How long did it take RAN to become the player he did? Plenty said we were a better “team” without Cunha. Sarabia’s output was woeful for ages, apart from a couple of great goals. Now none of that suits the
agenda, we have lost a team of superstars.

Even though those players had gone, preseason started the alarm bells ringing for me. There was no shape, identity or cohesion to our play, at all, and there still isn’t. Vitor has brought in his preferred coaches, probably had a big say in getting rid of Hobbs and since then, we have declined rapidly.

Where Jeff and Fosun fall down, is their lack of understanding of the game, so they naively/blindly, whatever you want to call it, put total trust in those they employ to do the job. That’s how Mendes was able to have us over regarding Fabio, imo. Initially, everything he did turned to gold, so by then, nobody probably even bothered to do the due diligence and just said, yes go ahead.

Equally, they have been blinded by Vitor imo. He came in when things were desperate, had a fortunate run of fixtures that we managed to win, and he was heralded the messiah. I doubt any of the senior management are even capable of looking at the finer details of how we escaped, they were just thankful that we did and have put all their eggs in the same basket. Problem being, the basket’s made of paper and it’s pouring down with rain.

I like Vitor as a person, but he has proved very little as a manager. He’s been managing for 20 years and always dreamed of managing in the Prem……Why did it take so long to happen? His best achievement is winning the Portuguese league with Benfica……Lage managed that.

Name me one game since he took over, where we were great to watch. We scraped home in most of the games we won (apart from Leicester, who were bleeding abysmal). Iirc, the only team we beat (or even took points off) from the top half, was Villa.

I saw much better, organised, cohesive and fluent play under all of his predecessors than I’m seeing right now. 1pt from the last 9 games. The stat’s don’t lie

The simple truth is they don't. But not much investment either.

Being in the Premier Leqgue is good enough for FOSUN. They realised the level of investment to make it regularly into the top six is not justifiable from a business perspective.

Objective now is for the club to be self sustaining whst the Premier League grows in value. Especially with the American owners getting involved. And by extension the value of thier asset.

But being self susttaimable in the Premier League is nearly impossible. Especially when the club is run how it is. By clowns.

“Where Jeff and Fosun fall down, is there lack of understanding of the game.”

This sentence alone is the catalyst for why we need a change.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’d assume nobody is thinking protests are the way to resolve a bad start to a season, however, the bad start to the season is a byproduct of our owners and them having a lack of understanding of the game.

To be fair Fosun aren’t bound by Chinese politics they’re just tight ****ers who don’t want to invest in us.
It would be hugely embarrassing for 'the brand' in China and, (assuming our matches are televised somewhere over there), there would certainly be a backlash against Fosun from the CCP.

Exactly right. Hanging in there until PSR makes the league get a grip of finances and the value of the club increases. Not asset stripping, just trying not to put much more money in. It's not a ridiculous strategy, but you have to actually make good decisions and that's where it currently looks like it's gone wrong for them. Still they've saved themselves twice from their own **** ups already, so fingers crossed!

The real effectiveness of any protest for Wolves would be to aim at getting it picked up as a talking point by the media. But aim it somewhere below the international politics of Taiwan vs China.

The protests need to be specific, aimed at the problem, and visible to the press.
It makes no odds if the (UK) press sees protests. Nothing will change. But embarrass Fosun in front of their own Govt (which expects total compliance) and they will be forced to react one way or another. Yes, its a risky strategy but there are not many effective options out there.

But nobody was saying that when Nuno was the manager and we were flying.

Yes, it does. Because they run the club, set the financial parameters, employ the staff - you get the drift. THEY are in charge !

I guess like everybody else on here I get e-mails from the club encouraging me to buy shirts, hats, training gear etc.
What if everybody on here (and their friends and acquaintances) unsubscribed from those e-mails on the same day ?
Would the loss of +/- 4000 potential customers lead Jeff to realise that disillusion is setting in amongst the fan-base ?
And, of course, nobody should buy any more of this stuff till changes are made...

The main issue for me is that it feels like they are taking us for mugs. 'Benchmarking' of ticket prices against Champions league teams, 9/10 transfer windows, Wolve is not for us... At best, this is arrogance beyond belief and a total lack of awareness and/or respect for the average supporter. However, for me it feels more like they are 'putting us in our place'. A reminder that they are in charge and an insignificant fan like me can sit there and take it or **** off.

We desperately need some more billionaires who won't be able to spend more money than what Fosun have.

Start waving Taiwan flags and what Fosun could possibly do would eclipse what the Bhattis tried to do.

Said it a few weeks ago and got pelters for saying it because apparently, not being in the ground makes my opinion irrelevant, but while people are angry about whats going on, they are to apathetic now to do anything about it.

They could run the club better though. Have better recruitment, have far more knowledgeable people in positions of power, increase revenue, not treat fans like crap, do something with the stadium.

So i've thought about this and this is what we need to do. Divert support, resource and positive atoms to the wolve e-sports team. Then we wont be sad mate.

This is a 9 out of 10 response, sponsored by Jeff, we are massive in Mexico and Korea, Shi.

But nobody was saying that when Nuno was the manager and we were flying.
If they were working towards the same strategy as then, I wouldn’t be either. What they were doing was working and they moved away from it.

Many supporters, myself included, think they lucked out on Nuno with the benefit of hindsight. Jeff has since said they thought Nuno was lucky (not sure if that’s more funny than it is disrespectful), and if that’s the case, we’re proven right.

Very few wanted Nuno gone at the time too, I’d say over 95% of the fan base would have stuck with him.

All of the above aligns with your own quote, in that they essentially haven’t got a clue what they’re doing and not fit to own our great club.

Complete waste of time and effort now. The time was preseason and first game maybe. The ship has already set sail, no-one is coming in after the season has started and it's clear we're going down. Any prospective buyer will wait until we're down before attempting to buy. That's what a smart buyer would do. If you want someone smarter than Fosun anyway.

If they’ve got any sense they’ll sell now for a bit less than they want rather than getting relegated and really being in the ****.

I think it does.

Selling your best players for years and not replacing them adequately means exactly this, not to mention not backing managers properly and spinning us lies.

I don't have the time to write a long reply. In short, we sell our best players and do not replace them adequately every year.

This all started with the sale of Jota and not replacing him, and then many others followed. Look at the squad now, we have gone from 7th place finishes and Europe to a team that would not win the championship with this squad. I call this asset stripping, and you can call it what you like.

That's not what asset-stripping means, though.

Well you can't call it asset stripping can you? There's no evidence of funds being squirreled off, the transfer net spend is pretty neutral. There's a self sustainable model in place which we've known about for a long time. Under investment yes, lack of forward planning, yes, lack of football knowledge at the top yes, incompetence yes. But asset stripping it isn't......if fans want to protest that's fine but it needs to be for the right reasons and not some inaccurate perception that Jeff Shi is making regular trips home with suitcases stuffed with used notes....

We sold players for €138m (with a book value of maybe €50m) and signed players for €140m. If that's asset stripping then they truly are incompetent!
Well I mean talk of injecting 400/500m into Thomas cook who later went bust and they purchased the name seems rather pathetic

Just imagine where we could be with that level of investment so the money is there…

AI overview -

Fosun's investments in the former Thomas Cook were two-fold: in 2015, they bought a 5% stake for £91.9 million ($140 million) to become a major shareholder, and in 2019, after the company's collapse, Fosun acquired the Thomas Cook brand and related hotel brands (Casa Cook, Cook's Club) for £11 million.

Initial Stake (2015)

  • Investment: Fosun paid £91.9 million to acquire 5% of Thomas Cook's shares.
  • Goal: This move was part of Fosun's strategy to expand its presence in the European holiday market and access the fast-growing Chinese tourism market.
  • Follow-up: Fosun expressed its intention to increase its stake to 10%.
Acquisition of Brand Assets (2019)
  • Investment:
Weeks after Thomas Cook went bankrupt, Fosun purchased the Thomas Cook name and logo for £11 million.

  • Acquired Assets:
The deal also included related hotel brands like Casa Cook and Cook's Club, as well as trademarks, domain names, and software applications.

  • Purpose:
Fosun intended to leverage the brand's recognition and expand its own tourism business.
Failed Rescue Attempt (2019)

  • Background:
In late August 2019, before the bankruptcy, Fosun had been in discussions to inject a larger sum, around £450 million, into Thomas Cook for a significant ownership stake in the tour operator and airline businesses.
  • Outcome:
This larger rescue plan ultimately fell through, and Thomas Cook went bankrupt in September 2019.

1. I have no idea why you've gone to the trouble of asking IT to do that.
2. It feels to me like you don't actually understand it as it reads as a £102.9m investment.
3. I neither know nor care what the liquidation realised, for example what Hays paid for the shops.
