Jørgen Strand Larsen

Great to see Strand Larsen get a confidence boosting Hat-Trick today. I hope he stays with us at least until the Summer. He is a quality player, reads the game well, plays clever decisive passes (eg Mane Assist / Everton) and today showed again the quality of his finishing. Hope the fans get behind him.
Shame he doesn't play like that against Premier Lg Sides.

Hat trick or not today I cannot forgive the complete lack of effort it would seem over the first few months of season whilst he got over the disappointment of still being here. He can go for me but am grateful for his hat trick today.
I wrestle with this too.

In his defence, he’s only a young lad. Jeff decided to sign a young squad - arguably one, maybe two leaders - and then left them with a manager who couldn’t engage with them.

JSLs attitude has been crap, but he isn’t alone.

He is 25 in footballing terms that isn’t a young lad but I do agree many more have to look in the mirror but JSL more than most no clearer behaviour of someone throwing there toys out for not getting the move they wanted have I ever seen. Badly advised I suspect. I think it’s fair to say that I don’t want him in the club but I respect differing views on him and just regretting for me turning down money we will never get again for him. That wasn’t his fault however it was the pispoticle transfer window that meant we had to.

A striker is only as good as the service he gets, anyone would have suffered the way we had been playing, all this rubbish about he threw his dummy out of the pram after he didn't move to Newcastle is a load of crap, he's not that kind of person. I would keep him unless someone comes up with the 45 million that wolves would be tempted to sell him at , we have sold too many players on the cheap, good striker's are hard to find

I always thought he was a few years younger.

Inclined to agree. Very poor season.

Marianakis must be counting tenners out in piles tonight

JSL is exactly what Forest need to pull clear AND go further in Europe and Marianakis will just stump up and worry about it later

I feel it in my gut

I was a big critic earlier in the season, but have to remember he was impacted by a sore Achilles earlier in the season, also in an underperforming team and maybe the disciplinarian nature of Pereira didn’t get the best out of him either, he’s looked a lot less sulky recently.

He just doesn't look like he has been trying to me . I know it could be a lack of confidence. But I see a man that just doesn't offer himself . And for me that is unforgivable.

Interesting that he's played a few really nice clever passes from deep positions though, whereas until the last few weeks he's been up top all the time.
He did have a good game today and some nice touches and a couple of decent goals but I just wish he'd show up for the really important games in the Prem. With Arias and Mane now on the scene and R Gomes back I really don't care if he stays or goes.

All he has to do is actually try for the fans to get behind him. Thats whats been missing this season, effort.

He didn’t seem to have much interaction with the crowd today, esp after scoring his third, last season his celebrations involved the fans more, didn’t really seem to celebrate at the end either, maybe it was just me

He does, got 14 goals in 24/25. How much of this season has he been injured? He certainly hasn't had much help from his teammates either.
Plenty of top managers will try to sign him. Honestly don't you think they might know a player? Eddie Howe, Nuno, Dyche, Glasner maybe?
He's the best No 9 we have had since Raul, we had to wait long enough for us to sign a player of his quality I can’t actually believe people want shut of him. Out of form till recently ploughing a lone furrow in a **** poor team. All the 'he's had his head turned' was absolute nonsense imo. I don't believe that's his character at all. He will no doubt leave now or in the summer and we will have watch him, like MGW, and Cunha, banging them in the PL every other week while we scrap it out in the championship.

We've played 21 Prem games this season and he's been dire/not interested in all of them he's played in. His first good game today was v the team ranked 90th in the league; not sure his performance today proves anything. Let's see him v Toon and B'mouth; then we can judge.

Not sure that’s fair he made a difference against Everton on Wednesday. I think we’re seeing an improvement in attitude just my feeling.

Hey, but the rest of the forum can use playing well against 90th in the league to say Fer Lopez is one of the best players in the squad, despite what we've all seen otherwise. ;)

For what it's worth, for me, Strand Larsen is a good Premier League forward. He scored 14 last season, his first season in the league. That isn't a fluke, however he had creative players around him, especially Cunha, but also the likes of Sarabia.

Wolves currently have no creative players. Maybe Mane in the past couple of weeks, but that's it. We've sold the lot. So it's hard work being a striker at Wolves this season.

Just because he nearly went to Newcastle, and now hasn't scored much, doesn't mean he's not interested. That's just an easy way to have a go.

I know he is available to leave this window on loan, as long as the other club agrees to an obligation of £40m - and perhaps £35m gets it over the line. He would leave, but it doesn't mean he's not trying.

Well done today, Jorgen.

Not surprised really, given some of the stick he’s taken.

He’s been poor this season and he’s never a £60m player but for large parts of the season he’s been up on his own with nobody near him. Zero service. Even last season when he scored plenty he wasn’t knocking centre halves around or winning flick-ons but now, this season, his inability to do this has been more heavily scrutinised because the goals haven’t been there.

This zero service argument is a cop out excuse. The way we have been playing as a team, nobody would really expect him to be scoring loads of goals. He's been 100% correctly criticised for his performance levels and the effort he's put in. He's been atrocious this season.

I haven't judged him on today, quite the opposite. He's a top quality finisher, but others haven't done their job, that and his injury are the main reasons for this seasons form. You appear to disagree and think he's useless, but your wrong and will have to watch him succeed for years to come.

Noticed this too watching on tv. After scoring a Hattrick in front of the south bank he gave a brief glance and just turned away in muted celebration.

Things which can co-exist:

JSL is a decent option in a decent PL team

JSL has not extended himself playing for Wolves since his move broke down, which is unacceptable as a professional and does not withstand attempts to appease

Very fair. He's a much better player than he's been for us this season. No doubt he'd have done more with better service but he hasn't really been looking for it

Maybe a reflection on the strength of the opposition.

Also, he's an excellent finisher, but he does depend on others to provide the chances for him. We haven't had that - though Mane has arrived and Arias is at last beginning to play like the player we saw in that world club championship. We still probably don't have enough to bring out the best in JSL, I'd sell while demand high and reinvest elsewhere (right back and another creator - we should be able to get upgrades on both with the JSL money).

(and even at his best, he has some serious flaws in his all round game, he's slow, control not good..).

I agree he’s a victim of his own frame really as it creates an expectation of attributes which are not in his game.

He has a degree of guile in the box and can do a job in most PL teams I think without setting the world alight

We'll sell him to Forest and he'll score the goals that save them and send us down. That would be typical FOSUN. Grab 40 million now and end up losing 100 million in club value when we narrowly fail to avoid relegation as a result.

We are down no matter what, and Forest are probably safe after their win at WHam
His lack of form/endeavour, call it what you will, has cost us dear already
He is much better than he has shown this season, we all know that
We know his lack of control/hold up play are his weakness, but his guile and goals usually make up for that
Hes a 10/12 goal a season PL player and not many get that tally
The majority on here wanted him gone weeks ago,we cant now turn on Fosun for selling just because he scored a few against a poor side
Ive no doubt he will score goals for whoever buys him, and personally would like him to stay
If he does great, if he goes he goes, i wont be moaning at Fosun if he does, unless they sell below £40 mil lol

I was pulling my hair out with him earlier in the season, and when Edwards kept picking him, but I think JSL has responded really well to being dropped, and has done better off the bench recently and of course yesterday.

I think there has been a shift in his attitude or maybe it’s down to the team and him finding some form.

Anyway I’d rather focus on how he’s doing now rather than earlier in the season, when he was injured and we kept losing.

Gut feel is he won’t go in Jan.

Does not seem to be kicking up a fuss to get his move and putting in some better performances lately.

Noticed yesterday he was the one giving pep talks to people a few times. Hwang when he gave away the ball for the pen and their keeper for our 3rd goal - two examples. His heart seems to be in the right place.

Very useful sub for us to have. Doubt we would replace to his level. As with anyone if the right bid comes in then I think we will sell. Given the number of clubs with cash sniffing around then I think we will get a few bids north of £30m and I think we wil sell to give RE funds (assuming it happens early enough this time).

“It could be a lack of confidence “ …. It WAS A lack of confidence!!

His hopeless penalty the other week being a proof.

The lad is a good lad, who did knuckle down when the deal didn’t go through. But he was playing in a dysfunctional team under a dysfunctional manager. The service he was getting was hopeless. What would you expect in those circumstances other than his confidence being shot !!!

Absolutely 100% been a confidence thing for him. He was genuinely hurt when the fans turned against him, and his form was off before the Newcastle interest so I don't buy the 'head turned' argument.

If he's turned a corner, good for him and good for us. He'll likely go, but on better terms than a month or so ago.

I’m not so sure he’ll go in Jan either.

A mixture of clubs not meeting our price or the clubs interested not being appealing to him, whether that’s league position or current club turmoil.

Forest, Palace and Spurs interested, all of which have question marks over the manager.

I think he’ll have more options in the summer.

That’s stops you running around does it ? Effort is what almost every football fan would want as a bare minimum. It’s what you owe your teammates and your fans and for your pay cheque !!!
