Fer López

Dependable- JRB??? Surely an oxymoron......very big question mark on that one :)
Based on his showing for Haiti where he was involved in a LOT...and up against my plucky at best Scotland, he is absolute garbage and should be nowhere near the team. Anything other than a routine pass that even I could make and he lost posession. And as for his set pieces...had at least half a dozen and not a single one was productive including many just lumped straight out of play. I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt this season in the chump, but in a game where he had the chance to shine....was abysmal.

I like him - he has played better for us than in that game, but he did get involved. With one or two exceptions, Haiti were not good players and di not seem to have a structure, so that would hasve affected his performance.

I agree he was poor.

With all the talk of whether Fer Lopez is best suited to Spanish league football or English league football, I can't help thinking Cesar Peixoto might be bringing a touch of the type of football that will suit Fer Lopez.

Maybe, but he will still need to up his work rate, physicality, tracking back, pressing etc. Thats not optional. See Neves for eg, few worked harder; he didnt rely on his technical ability alone.

What I like the most about Fer Lopez is the same people who love him hated Fabio Silva
Seen nothing to suggest hes ready for the english league

For me I think the issue is no one has seen enough of him to be so black and white to think he either is the next wonder kid or that he’s not good enough. He’s got some undoubted talent but he’s got some gaps in his game for the English leagues right now. Whether a) he can fill those gaps or b) he wants to fill those gaps will be seen in the future.

Much like Mane a season in the championship will do him the world of good long term but it’s whether they want to do that as both will have options elsewhere

Most annoying thing was last pre season he showed more ability than anyone (not saying much!). Then he just vanished whilst Munetsi just ran around…..

The few times he was on the pitch last season he showed enough for me that he could make an impact. Hoping he gets a chance this season.

That seems to happen consistently. It was Roddy the pre-season before.

The curse of having international players in your team. They cost soo much, no one is allowed to displace them.
That answers the Hwang question for me, as well.

Let's hope Cesar has a different viewpoint.

If he can get Lopez to stay, and give him the right support - that is a hell of a start.

He might not be ready for the Premier league, but I think he would be awesome in the Championship with the right players behind him. We have André, get a box to box runner, and Lopez as a 10, and I think it will be great.

I did hear (rumour from the pub) that some players that were adamant on leaving whilst RE was here have since changed their mind I think Cesar has been in contact with ones he wants to stay.
Any names, please?! And I do hope it's not those most of us want never to see in a Wolves shirt again!

Great News, … I think

It’ll be like a new signing

Hope it’s an improvement on the last time he was a new signing and not like the time Guedes came back to a club he didn't want to play for

Celta Vigo are just chancing their arm clearly. It’s massively unlikely that his fee to come here was payable in one lump sum and it’s spread over several years so to get him back wouldn’t cost them that much. Ultimately if they want him they’ll have to pay for him or he’s going to have to get his head round playing in the championship

This is why we should not have loaned him to Celta Vigo in the first place. It was always going to be problematic, and they were neve going to have the money.

We must stand firm on this though.

I'm hopeful Peixoto will make him the number 10 and he enjoys the new style, as he clearly wasn't fancied by Edwards despite claims they would look at him this pre-season.

If he doesn't though, and still wants to leave, we can't give him to Celta Vigo again. They're never going to pay £15-20m and unless he is truly outstanding to attract interest from the real elite, we'll just be in the same position where they want him on loan again in 12 months.

i think he can play 8 with andre as 6 and still fit mane in

Lopez will be fine if it is clear he is wanted at the club and given the minutes he craves. Game time fixes all ills. Let's hope the Spanish Messi can finally shine!

I do not like the look of what I saw from Fer Lopez when he played for Wolves, he looked very lightweight and he wont have an easier time of that in the Championship. If we get offered a deal that cancels out what we owe on the books i'd accept it. I don't think he is cut out for English football (would be more than happy to be proven wrong, time will tell.)

Regardless of all that - someone should be made to pay a fee of a minimum of what we owe Celta Vigo for his transfer or he stays and we find out. Sending a 21m signing out for free is ridiculously bad business, let alone doing it twice.

From what I heard not long after Edwards was given the boot, was that Robs attitude to utilising players that were out on loan was what actually did him in, with Guo.
My mate didn’t say which ones in particular but one can assume Guo isn’t going to be too bothered about Nigel Lonwijk. So in my head, Edwards was looking to move Fer Lopez on and wanted a lot more new players than Fosun wanted to buy, and didn’t want to lose too much money on those sold.
Hence why I think there hasn’t been much activity with players out. Naturally Pishotto is going to want to make his own judgements but I also think Fosun have insisted on it.

He’s another year stronger and fitter. I think he’ll ace it.

Yet managed absolutely fine for Celta playing in most of their games. If we hadn’t have hired a cretin for a manager we wouldn’t be in this situation

Lopez and Sasa will stay I think along with Doyle.

You're right he was "fine" as a functional central midfield player in a different country and league playing in a different role, in a different system.

I do not want to be correct about this one - we paid £21m for him so its in all our interests if he comes back and "aces it" and I will be delighted if thats the case. I am merely going off what I saw with my own eyes and using that to judge the likeliness he will be a success at Wolves as that's the only available evidence at the moment.

The loan to Celta Vigo, makes sense, if you don't want to sell him and have a head coach unwilling to allow him minutes to develop. When the plan is to dump that head coach.
Given that our former head coach had an almost non existent and under whelming foot ball style, when we had nothing to prove or lose, it makes sense to me.

One of our best players on the pitch in the limited minutes he has had for us. Think I have seen every minute live when he has been on the pitch including last years friendlies.

Worth a shout in the Prem and 100% worth a shout in the Championship. Could be a key player for us next season.

He so sorely missed a player who progressed the ball with forward passing or taking a man on. On the ball, he reminds me of Sarabia - fantastic quality. I hope he can mature into a key asset for us next season, as he'd be technically one of the best in the league.

Not a chance was he one of the best players on the pitch in the minutes he has with us and I am gobsmacked you are trying to suggest he was . He did have relatively few minutes in the grand scheme of things but in the time he did have he was very underwhelming.

Pre season best player by a mile.

When he then played in the season he was one of our only creative players which we desperately needed. Judging him by the limited minutes he had on the pitch for us.

Guessing you preferred Munetsi?
