Might be the post-match win high , but I'm beginning to think that rather than a full rebuild, we actually have the nucleus of a squad good enough to challenge for promotion next season. The key is in persuading some players to stay, who will most likely get better offers.
Andre and Joao are off, for sure. It's players like Krejci, Mosquera, both Buenos, Rodrigo, Mane, maybe even Sa, who I think will be in demand but would do very well in the Championship. Keep that defence together, also hoping that a season in the Champs would be good for Tchachoua as he is finally looking an asset, surely his speed will rip that league up? Possibly even Toti, too. Arokadare should be fine at that level.
It's that central midfield that is going to need to be rebuilt, a crucial area that we often got very wrong in the pre-Neves/Moutninho days. (and Rae/Cameron).
Have said all along, we lack quality but always did have more quality than the ultra-poor teams of the past, the Derbys/Barnsleys/Lutons/Albions etc. We're better than the side Terry Connor took down, too.
The other I've said is that the rebuild needs to be at the top end of the club. That's the rotten part that cast the shadow over the club that led us to this position.
