Championship - who will stay?

I honestly don't see a mass exodus, Andre, Joao, JSL, Arias, Hwang and Sa would be the only ones I think will 100% go. For the rest I guess it depends on if there is interest and better opportunities.
You know how to depress a bloke?!

If you believe the press there seems to be a pretty good chance that João and Arias won't go in the Summer - because they'll have left in January.
Something in my water tells me you're right about this. Andre I'm sure doesn't want to be here and I expect Arias can't wait to go anywhere! I do wonder if their pal J Gomes will want out in January if the right offer comes along. Tbh we'll be so adrift come January RE might as well start planning his team re-build then and get them used to playing together.

As most of our players are on relative (for the Prem) low wages, I think we could see bids for a lot of our squad, if not from English clubs, then from abroad. Fosun's motivation may be to recoup as much money as possible, so we may end up with a firesale.
Certainly, Joao, Andre and JSL will be out of the door as they are likely to receive offers. The others will depend on whether clubs abroad want to match the wages they are on at Wolves, otherwise, the players will stay to see out their contracts. Can't see much demand from Premier League clubs (those who could easily match Wolves' wages) for most of our under performing, error-prone, soft-mentality squad.
Krecji's loan won't be taken-up and he'll head back to Girona.

Probably end up with Johnstone, Doc, Agba, Toti, Jackson, Traore, Doyle, Hwang, Munetsi, Mosquera, Wolfe and possibly Tolu as the base squad. ****, that's depressing.

Still laughing at this. And who is going to create the chances and who is going to put them away? Names please?
Lopez, beuno, munetsi, Tolu, JSL, Mane + Jan signing

Sure we only have a very slim chance, but whilst we do let's put thoughts of next season in the champ on the back burner, at least for a few weeks, and New manager has actually been I. Charge for a few games.

I said earlier to Tornado Ted, you know how to depress a bloke. Reading your post I'm rigging up the rope as we speak!

Doc is out of contract after this season and he would have to be absolutely insane to sign another. Mosquera just needs to show he's not totally shot after the knee and I think his La Liga stint on its own gets him some looks. Wolfe I think the jury is still very out on. He seems like a potentially decent player to me, and pretty cheap. Traore is also still a decent profile and is playing a lot at Metz. Could get himself a move. I have said before I don't think the club can keep Tolu in the Championship.

Other than that, sure. I think with the wages Wolves are paying, a Serie A, La Liga, or maybe even Bundesliga club could make it work if they wanted the player. Turkiye too.

There would be some merit in selling our 'Prem' players in January and starting to build a team for the championship. We have already done so in our managerial appointment imo, get the bones together of a title/promotion challenging team whilst they gain experience of competing (sorry that should read playing) in the top flight

Of course that sensible, pragmatic approach is absolutely the reason we'll end up doing something bat **** crazy like sell everyone in January and wait until transfer deadline day in the summer to scatter gun recruit some nomads who have no experience of English football and don't play in the formation our manager prefers.

"IF" we are in the championship next season I really can see only Doc and Johnstone from our " starters" still being here...at a push Jackson and Tolu.
Even players like Wolfe and Toti are internationals and won't want to be rotting away outside of the top league glare.
Lopez unless things drastically change under Edwards also would have an eye on the door and Mane was/ is highly rated and we had to coax him to stay so don't expect him to be the future of the club.
So I think it will be a huge overhaul....which in some ways I welcome.

Doyle I feel will be a key player and really endear himself to supporters. What a brilliant pickup he was. Wish we had him at the moment!

He will thrive under RE.
That's the Doyle who isn't exactly playing much at Blues? The one with zero pace?

Trying to be positive (difficult I know) but thinking back to Nuno we had Neves, Jota, Costa, Cav, Boly and Saiss; all top players willing to slum it in the Champs? If RE can make a good impression with the players I think it's possible Lopez, R Gomez, both Buenos and Mane will stay to help the fight back up. Tbh I don't care about the others.

Lima.. yeah of course.. good shout.

I suspect we will see a decent bid for Lima from somebody, he is still a very highly touted young player. Unfortunately we gave him an absolutely shocking loan.

I would sell Sa, Andre, Joao Gomes, Hwang, JSL, Hugo, Arias, Santi and JRB then release Krejci, Doherty and Hoever. That's 12 from the current 23.

That would leave the 11 below, which I think would provide a good base to build from, and would be a menace at that level. Add a few, bring back some loanees and blood a few youngsters from there.

In my opinion we would need a complete refresh and the braidy bunch will no doubt sell our crown Jewell’s to make up for the loss of Prem Revenue so think something like this…
Sold - Pitbull, Andre, JSL, Hwang, Sa, Arias, Agbadou, Toti and hopefully Munetsi, Bellegarde and Jackson.

Leaving a side minus incomings of something like this…

Be in league 1 the following year if thats what we've got.

Apart from the fact that they're all ****e - most of them appear to have poor body language and don't want to play for us either, so on that basis, I don't care who leaves.

The only ones that have looked like they actually care or have an ounce of fight about them in their body language is Andre, Joao, Doherty, Krejci, Munetsi and, before he was loaned out, Sasa.

Minus incomings though mate so hopefully be better than that come start of the season. That’s just with what we’ve got now.
We need about 10 players in mate and the same out its a huge job and ill be thankful to stop in the championship.

Totally agree mate. Will be a huge overhaul no doubt and a lot will depend on just how shot the players confidence is after this season….and who is in charge too of course.

Interesting to read this again 2 months on with more positive vibes around the place. I think RE will possibly now hang on to Fer Lopez and integrate Lima into the team. Arias seems a different player now and has a smile on his face. Would he be prepared to see how a season in the Champs goes as he gives the impression of being pretty settled now and is playing well with Mane? Hwang is picking up too but I suppose wages will determine that he goes in the summer. Tolu is a big question mark. Not sure he's made a big enough impression yet to get Prem offers but he'd get us goals in the Champs if he was prepared to stay. The better we do now the more likely it is we could hold on to the likes of Tolu and Arias and also attract some decent young talent.

Who do you think will stay/go and be the core next season?
Stray - Mane, R Gomes, Lopes, J Gomes , Arias, Kreji, Tolou , Mosquera, Toti, H Bueno, Wolf, Doyle, Lima, Traore, S Bueno

Move on - JSL, Andre , Agbadou, Jackson, Twang, Sa

There is the potential for a young vibrant team that could be exciting and competitive next year

I agree with your 'move ons'. I'd be amazed but thrilled if J Gomes, Arias and Kreji stayed on. In fact if just 1 of those stayed on I'd be thrilled and surprised. I think all 3 have enough quality to be picked up by another Prem side in the summer.

No way joao, mane, arias, krejci will be in the champ unfortunately.

I'd like to see Tolu, Rodrigo, hugo, mosquera, doyle, bellegarde, boubs and lima stay. CB is a question mark, personally like santi but suspect he'd have some interest from lower prem/la liga clubs.

Consider this……why move any player on if you think they’re good enough for the PL?. ( of course it depends on their contracts).
If we can, then Wolves need to be very firm and keep the best players we have. It will help us as we try to get promoted again.

The smart thing is to keep them if they help us.

Of course some Mixers say that we should sell and get the money. Ok, but why not keep them and sell them later?

Not sure I agree with Mane at this stage of his career he would be mad to move on from a club he knows he will get proper first team minutes, plus as good as he has been he will still need to improve things to his game and a full season in the Championship would be good for him!

Don't know don't really care

Try and build the team around those who want to be here

Hopefully Mane, Rodrigo Gomes if if if we can keep the young promising players we have a good chance

I'm hoping the club is already getting an idea who is ready for the fight to get back up next season and who isn't... I know things will change if clubs come in with bids etc but the planning needs to start now i feel.

Said on another thread but one example i'd be doing everything to keep hold of Tolu he would be a serious player at that level.

If we can keep the forward line of

Rodrigo Tolu Mane

We have the fire power to outscore many at that level

Wolves haven’t shown any kind of competence in forward planning to date, except when Fosun first took over, so I’m not at all confident they have any kind of cunning plan to return to the PL. They’ll wait to see who’s left after the fire sale and then bring in players to be competitive.

A lot will depend on how much they lose on their investment.

From the bits I’ve been told they really weren’t aware of much that was going on inside the club, we are a tiny part of their portfolio. That’s not an excuse for them but I don’t think (well actually I know) they don’t really understand football.

There are rumours Jeff ran his own empire and they didn’t realise how bad it was.

I can only speak from experience from my work that when you own a number of companies those that are ‘smaller’ in the portfolio don’t get as much attention and as long as certain headline requirements are met those at the top don’t really do a deep dive.

I’m my opinion it could go one of two ways, they realise they need the club in the premier league and invest to get us back up (ie Nuno season) or they realise they need to sell.

Kieran Maguire, who knows his stuff, has said we've been available for at least 2 years.

Hard to dispute that considering the way we've been run.

They could set a realistic asking price for the club & walk away with some dignity & a large profit - but they won't. It will probably take a double relegation & administration before we see the back of these chancers

He's shown he can handle the PL and will likely continue to improve as the season progresses. Pretty sure someone will offer us big money in the summer and they arent going to turn it down if that happens, sadly.
