2025/26 Season Mr Rob Edwards and his Press Conferences

To be fair, it's what some of us have been saying. It's finally a bit of honesty and he's fighting back, so fair play in that sense.

But he should've taken this approach before, instead of bull****ting.

People don't like it, but it's the truth. We are ****. You even have the Vitor Pereira example that perfectly highlights it, but some people don't want to hear it.

That doesn't mean Edwards should stick around, and I would sack him, but I'm glad he's talking straight here. He has been far too O'Neil like since he came to the club with the way he speaks.
 
This is the thing with Edwards that I keep coming back to. I can accept a lot of it isn't his fault. Jeff Shi get's most of the blame. Who gave Edwards the job? The man who created the mess. He is part of Shi's legacy and a pretty smile ain't changing that.

Don't care, it's true. Vitor Pereira couldn't get a tune out of them. Rob Edwards can't.

Not ONE of our attacking players gets in another Premier League XI right now.

Two things can be true at the same time. Edwards may not be the man to take us forward, but just because you don't like him it doesn't mean you should dismiss a fair point he makes.

He's not suddenly offering some refreshingly blunt appraisal of the players. He has for the first time been given a blunt appraisal of his own performance by the fans, so he is now pivoting to try to absolve himself of any blame: "It's not my fault". I think what he said is gutless. He has to take some responsibility.

Yeah, no doubt. He seems thin-skinned to me.

But I don't actually disagree with much, or any, of what he said.

We really need a clearout of both playing staff and management and have a complete reset going into next season. This will give us the best chance of promotion and give the favs something to get behind

That is firmly on him, but I think he's talking about the situation he walked into. We were never staying up when he walked in. Anyone think we had any chance, with any other manager, is quite frankly off their head.
 
We weren’t staying up so why has he played safety first survival football. He’s supposedly implementing a new style of attacking football next season so why hasn’t he been working on that instead of being so negative week in week out?

This. He’s already said when asked that he knows who he wants to keep from squad, and that he know how he wants to play. Given that nobody really expected him to keep us up this season would have been a perfect opportunity to start implementing that style of play so players could get used to it, he could see which players could play that style and which couldn’t, and to find out if that approach was likely to work or not.

Playing this survival football would be OK if it got us points and gave us a chance of staying up or even not finishing bottom, but it hasn’t, and on top of that it been pretty devil to watch, Snd I really see how it’s helped it preparation for next season.

If I’m being cynical there won’t be a new style of football next season it’ll be exactly what we got this season. It’s just Rob telling the fans what he thinks they want to hear.

He must have a pretty low opinion of Wolves fans if he didn't think we would forgive him for taking the odd whupping, in service of trying to forge an actual identity for next season - given a fair few of the squad will still be here next season.

This is one of the reasons why many of us carry such trepidation. When we see Rob Edwards... we don't see anything. He is the footballing equivalent of used, lukewarm dishwater. We have absolutely no idea what he is about, or what he has done in his time here to justify staying on. How will he try to play next season? Not a Scooby Doo, beyond his vague and at this point chuckle-worthy promise to make us a "good watch".

Hard to forge an identity with players who probably won't be here or are only managing their own self interests. The squad is so miserably mismatched, what can you even do?

Our attack is so **** that we could not possibly sustain any level of attacking football either.

No attacker, maybe outside Mane, that can consistently beat a man. No-one to break the lines. No striker (JSL time included) who can give us a base to work from consistently.

Also I really doubt the majority of fans would have taken to the "odd whupping". Not a chance.

I'd give him the pre season & he has to hit the ground running. I'm not really fussed about him talking a good game re style of play. We've had plenty do it & fail. I'm bored of it.

Winners mentality from the manager ay making up for the shortcomings in this group of players.

The players would have seen in January what the situation was & how the club saw it. No-one, whatever they said in press, really thought we had a shot at staying up when he took over.

Mentality is coaching 101 though. Take Usain Bolt for example, his daily routine involved him running his rice in his head step by step, breath by breath. In his mind, he's won that race before he's set himself in the traps, before he's travelled to the stadium, before he's gone to bed the night before.

Top performers need this mindset or they will not perform to the best of their abilities.

Wether they are the best in the world or not doesn't matter, speaking those words about the team is admitting defeat before a ball has been kicked.

Don't mind a bit of honesty, to be fair. We are ****. Obviously he can't say that, but at least he's not coming out with clichés for once.

A better manager would have had us in the mix, but i still think it would have been difficult to stay up. We were 8 points away from safety when he came in, a couple of good results early on and we wouldnt have been cut adrift as badly as we were after those first 8 games he had in charge.

Edwards just was never the right choice. He's not an inspiring manager, his mentality is all about playing not to lose. We needed positivity and with Edwards we got a bloke who's attitude against a 10 man Sunderland when were already relegated was " we've got to make sure we dont lose this ". Tells us all we need to know imo.

I disagree...when Edwards came in there was still plenty of points to play for and the January window....IF Fosun wanted to halt the slide.
Yes it's not Edwards fault we're going down as one of the worst team ever but don't tell me he walked into an impossible task.

If we accept that the squad was a disaster when he arrived and we could have pulled off another January transfer window salvation...

We were on 3 points from 19 games when the window opened. So realistically we'd probably have needed 2 points a game from the second half of the season. So from relegation bankers to CL form.

We were down before the window opened.

We needed a new manager bounce and we didnt get it. After our disastrous start to the season, those first 8 games under Rob basically sealed our fate. All i have been looking for is a positive end to the season, and its simply not happening sadly.
