2025/26 Season Mr Rob Edwards and his Press Conferences

I dont think thats correct tbh
We have lost 2 good players in Cunha and RAN
Sarabia was a bit part player although for me very good
We have bought in Krejci who is very good ,so even if you class the rest of our buys as poor its only one or two from the same as last season
Confidence and belief is whats needed
Obviously we are odds on to drop, but the worst squad in Prem history? i dont think so
I didn't say the worst squad, but one of the worst.

Last season with Leicester, Ipswich and Saints relegated; after 11 matches, all three had at least one win. All three had scored the same or more (Saints the same 7) than Wolves, all three had conceded fewer. All three had more points than our 2.
Many would say that those three were as poor as any other promoted trio including possibly Shi as he seems to have gambled that the three promoted for this season would be similarly inept.

In 23/24, the three relegated teams, Burnley, Sheff U and Luton all had more points after 11 matches than our 2, all had scored more goals and only SU had conceded more.

The year before that, Saints, Leeds and Leicester all had more points, conceded fewer and scored more......

As for Krejci; he looks decent in a squad bereft of of decent players. Would he stand out if we still had RAN, Cunha, Neves, Boly, Moutinho et al? I'd argue that he wouldn't. He's just the best of a bad bunch.
Furthermore, Krecji isn't our player, being on-loan and unlikely to sign to play in the second tier.

I admire your optimism, but unfortunately, I don't share it

Somehow need a run of 4 or 5 unbeaten from here with at least 3 wins

After the Chelsea loss (in the league), I thought we needed to get 4-6 points from the next three.

We've already lost to Palace, so a draw and a win against Villa and Forest is the bare minimum needed.

I think we’re very realistically on 0 from 3 for these fixtures.

Villa owe us a beating, we’re a bit of a bogey team of theirs of late, and I think this Sean Dyche Forest is possibly the worst possible team for us to play at the moment.

You're more than likely bang on.

Even when going through bad patches in recent years, we still seemed to have an element of unpredictability to us.

This meant going into games against teams likely to make mistakes could very well lead to us picking up points.

Currently though, we're extremely predictable - predictably dreadful.

Sounds incredibly defeatist already, although likely reflective of how I’m interpreting things at the moment.

The comment about not being able to click fingers and raise morale alarms me the most, that is the absolute number one task of a new manager.
He's not wrong though is he? You know when someone says to you "cheer up!" when you're miserable, do you feel any more cheerful?

It's going to take a lot more than just positive words/encouragement to truly lift the storm clouds around us now. The only way he's going to engender belief and optimism amongst the fans and players is by coaxing good performances and results through his work.

I thought this as well.

Of course.

But usually you hear “the manager has come in and completely lifted the place”, and at least sound bites like that, or the manager saying “the boys are looking bright and buzzing” - all cliches of course.

It just all sounds geared up for managing expectations.

I know we’re going down, I just want to start hearing and seeing more from the playing staff. I’ve written off our owners coming out with anything relevant.

Hard to see us getting anything against villa . The trans so poor in all areas that we get what we paid for . If you shop in the bargain bin don't expect a 3 course meal .

The Monday Night Football reference made me smile

Big worried about the turning their strengths into their weaknesses bit. Surely you stop their strengths and attack their weaknesses.
I’m not sure how he turns them scoring against us, into a weakness. Sounds like the sort of philosophical nonsense that Zenga would come out with.
I’m sure what he meant to say was ‘find their weakness and turn that against them’, but he didn’t, worryingly.

Let’s hope the performance is better than the press conference:

No magic wand - tick
Players need to show effort - tick
They want to do better - tick

It’s all basic, lacking authority and so entirely predictable.

Fingers crossed it’s just lip service and he’s much better on the training ground.

How much more time is Arokodare going to need to improve his fitness? He's been here 3 months now...
I’ve even read comments that he needs to get up to speed.

He’s been training nearly every day for 3 months as well.

Bloody ridiculous if he isn’t as fit as a butchers dog, when we are a third into the season!

It's all just *******s. WTF does 'we need to turn their areas of strength into their areas of weakness' mean. **** all. We're going to make all their really good players into really bad players for 90 minutes on Sunday?! FFS
I think it means we'll let them play to their strengths and score 4 or 5 lovely goals, which will lead them to take their foot off the gas, assume the game is in the bag and bring on their reserves - at which point we might be able to surprise them and score a consolation goal or two. Genius.

Or……

Is he just being a realist and trying to set an honest image for where the team is and what they are trying to achieve?

If he said the team were bouncing, happy and in great spirits so soon after coming in, that would likely be either total self serving/promoting crap or a massively bad insight into the players and their attitude to the situation they are in.

I am glad he was honest and shared the real story of what is going on……. Not done enough in football anymore

I always worry when mangers start talking gibberish . Very worrying that RE has gone into gibberish mode this early into his tenure.
